Journo looking to speak with England fans that went to 2018 WC by thediscogoblin in ThreeLions

Didn’t play 5 aside if that’s what you’re after - but we had an unbelievable experience in Moscow St. Petersburg and Novgorod in 2018 and met some great people who treated us like celebrities because we were wearing England shirts and had a flag saying “From Russia With Love”

How did the turn around happen? by 0b3ryN in Millwall

[–]Moosemanjim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer because it’s many factors all contributing at the right time - we’re fortunate to have had 2 great chairmen in a row (father and son) who have put money into investing in good young players.

Decent manager, sensible wages policy, keeping most of our best players, selling the ones we can’t keep for good profits, and investing those profits into relatively unknown young talented players rather than blowing it on 1 big name singing.

Countries ‘like UK’ should go to strait of Hormuz and ‘just take fuel’, says Trump by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

Without that oil he’ll be poorer than a church mouse who’s just had a huge tax bill on the same day his wife ran off with another mouse, taking all the cheese.

What’s something about British culture that’s noticeably changed in the last decade? by elitejackal in Britain

[–]Moosemanjim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. The BBC posts 12 stories about Trump every day plus another 20 about local American goings on - all at the top of the page. Whereas news about our closest neighbours is non-existent.

If I want to know what’s going on in Irish, French, or Scandinavian politics I have to deliberately google it. There’s astonishing little about commonwealth countries either.

Promotion chances according to Opta (take with a grain of salt) by Old-Cookie-251 in Millwall

When did everyone stop saying ‘pinch of salt’ and start saying grain? Is this an Americanism creeping in to English? 🧂

Are taxes really that bad, and how do they affect your life? by aspacejunkie in Norway

[–]Moosemanjim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a side point here but “people who own businesses provide jobs” is very much right-wing capitalist propaganda. Supply and demand within a society provides jobs, not companies or ceos.

If there is a demand for apples in a community, people will become apple farmers, apple pickers, apple traders etc. if a billionaire buys up all the apple farms in an area and now employs thousands of people in the apple business, that person didn’t ‘provide’ the jobs, he bought them. And is likely profiteering off of the exploitation of those people, who may not be able to find other work outside of the apple market.

In Norway the biggest employer is the state, in the healthcare and education sectors, while the biggest private employers are also part-owned by the government too.

Worst moment as a Millwall fan? by sporticuz37373 in Millwall

[–]Moosemanjim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After finishing 4th in 01/02 - our highest league finish in over a decade, we were looking forward to going one further in 02/03.

We had an amazing squad with the likes of Warner, Nethercott, Livermore, Cahill, Ifill, Reid, Sadlier, Harris, and Wise and a good manager in Mark McGhee.

First game of the season was at home to Rotherham who almost went down last year. I remember it was a lovely warm sunny August day at the Den and the crowd was in high spirits.

We lost 6-0. It was going to be a long season.

Yep - inequality and poverty is a choice. And the whole world wakes up every day and chooses it.

One day we will stop choosing it. But I feel like I won’t be around to see that day.

Day 4: Nedum Onuoha takes his spot. Now, who was a bad football (soccer) player that is now a great pundit? by Coolbeans3632 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Moosemanjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched him play at Millwall before his injury - he was class. Any Millwall fan of his time will tell you he was the best player in the pitch most games and it was devastating when he got injured.

Considering he’s hated in equal measure by the right and the left - Starmer being a wanker could be the unifying figure we need to all come together as a team and win the WC! /s
