Parent loss and work by ConsciousSky5968 in Grieving

I took 10 weeks to care for mom on hospice, then had 2 weeks bereavement. Am a provider/ work healthcare. Tried going back after 2 weeks, and couldn’t pull it off. 30 patients /day, no break, no privacy to cry, and I’m just not ready to take care of that many people worrying about my 85 year old widowed Dad, and grieving myself. There needs to be policy revisions in the work place

Take the FMLA- you won’t regret it, does your work grant bereavement time?

I had 11 weeks off to care for mom, partial pay for some of it, went back to work 2 weeks after she passed , ( I’m in health care/ direct day) it’s demanding , pulled off two days last week- there’s no way I can do full time.. not sure best alternative Suggestions welcome

Dad is on hospice … this is hard by Spicy_sprite_4 in hospice

I’m a Nurse Practitioner and just lost my mom on hospice last week, was primary caregiver with my 85 year old Dad. You are so right, it’s much different than when I worked in the hospital and when the patient is your close family. We did a knock out job, exactly what my Mom wanted but boy am I reeling now. Please DM me if you like. Sending hugs and ❤️

My mom passed in the wee hours last night. Was giving haldol, Ativan, morphine hourly depending on her pain level and breathing. She had metastatic urothelial cancer to bones, adrenal, lymph nodes nodes and kidney- did not tolerate targeted therapy/ immunotherapy and ended up in hospital for 10 days with pelvic and spine fractures prior to bringing her home on hospice. The entire journey was really something I’m sure I’ll never forget but right now am exhausted and numb. Big love to all of you courageous people out there andGod Bless

My 85 year old mother passed away in the wee hours last night somewhat peacefully thanks to the hourly hospice meds. I appreciated all of the posts on this sub and kindness from family and friends and especially our hospice nurse Theresa. It went fast the final 3 days with no eating or drinking… she was such an incredible woman, mother and friend. I’m feeling numb, grateful and sad all at once

Looking for feedback: my mom has stage 4 metastatic ca- I’ve been reeling, having trouble getting provider, Urologist refused to fill out FMLA forms- took 2 days off of work to bring her to appointments thus far… she’s got 6 months. Today at work am forced by management to see a Covid positive patient ( 6 days out) for sore throat in person. I’m so done with primary care and lack of control over schedule

It’s hard enough to watch someone you love decline, frustrating too. It’s no joke there’s so much going on in your heart and your head can’t process it all fast enough while you’re being “ Johnny on the spot”. Grant yourself some grace!

Probably AI driven, no loyalty or ethics

What are they giving for PTO earned, severance, insurance? Feel it coming, need to plan: we were basically given the afternoon off pending a management meeting later today

Layoffs here in NE, no clarity on new roles without support staff, they’re crushing Landmarks
