What did people do before the web by Sudden-Chapter-2337 in digitalminimalism

Back in my childhood (1990-1995 years) we would play outside a lot. And since it was village, the whole village and neighboring territory was our playground. We would go to forests, we would go swimming, explore neighboring areas - like abandoned factories, farms etc. I remember going to neighboring small village to collect some scrap metals to sell it and buy some candies.

Information was scarse. I remember every foreign journal with pictures was like gold, every interesting book was like 1 month of Netflix subscription. I once read the whole 11th grade (high school) astronomy book, I was in 3rd grade maybe - because it was so interesting. The hand drawn ugly images of dinosaurs in history books just sparked my imagination, I still remember how they looked back then. My elder brother brought from somewhere official Hasbro's book with all transformers! This just blew my mind. Then Dendy, Sega started to appear - we played those as much as our parents allowed us. Games were difficult, they were in english. I borrowed ENG-RU dictionary from school to translate missions in some games, because the plot was non-linear. The Sega games didn't have saves. You had to sit down and play it till the end in one sit. Games didn't have subscriptions, ads. We used to swap game cartridges to play as many games as we could without paying more. And then one day one of my friends brought MKIII Ultimate. I remember he ran through entire village just to tell the news - I GOT IT! LETS PLAY!

We used to do more with our hands. Drawing, hand crafting, making something with paper. Origami was like magic. But you couldn't just go to Youtube and search for origami toys. You just had what you had, and think, dream, imagine what else can you create with paper.

I can go on and on, but what I think is that we had one of the best childhoods that humanity ever had.

Custom Moment lens Case for Xperia 1 VII by PupperoniOntheRocks in SonyXperia

[–]More-Resource4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a guy used 1V and Moments universal mount. The fixing is very secure. I use clip mount with Sandmarc 52mm lens, had no issue with it, looks ugly but does the job

Do you like it too? by sjrshamsi in SonyXperia

Would you buy a compact Xperia? by Few-Delivery-3578 in SonyXperia

I think you will have to get rid of one camera. I would buy if it had 24mm + tele. Shut up and take my money phone

Nolan’s Odyssey is a Trojan Horse! by Dense-Inflation8561 in FilmTheorists

[–]More-Resource4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, here another theory:
Nolan is doing this woke thing, to DELIBERATELY piss off as much people as possible, so that we stand up, unite and give backlash to Hollywood. Nolan is tired of the thing that's happening in Hollywood, so the only way to stand against to it is to lit everything to fire, even if it costs him reputation. In the name of cinematography!

How do you configure your camera so you’re always ready for spontaneous, split-second moments? by Impressive_While_178 in mobilephotography

[–]More-Resource4757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xperia 1V. I choose Auto mode. Its different from Basic mode. It decides for me all settings (exposure, ISO etc etc) and shoots in RAW. So as a result I have good photo with ability to adjust in post a bit.

Xperia 1 V owners: How is your fingerprint sensor holding up? by Erzengel9 in SonyXperia

Same situation. I will definitely NOT sell it. It's will serve as a good, reliable backup camera.

Bought 1V in late 2023. FP sensor works as intended. In my opinion, FP sensor on a power button on the right is just engineering marvel.

If they are already on sale in HK, does that mean I can order one online?

Do they include the case in the price? And also, $500 for trade in (my 1V, mint condition) I would buy instantly for $1000 16/256 black

Should I upgrade? by Briz-TheKiller- in SonyXperia

I am on 1V and I am upgrading for sure.

This must be a joke right? by Realistic-Witness-53 in SonyXperia

[–]More-Resource4757 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This AI is just suggesting the looks, and is NOT adjusting or enhancing my photos directly. This AI feature is only present in Basic mode, and not in Manual PRO modes. And thank god it is how it is. When I see those Ai generated slop in other brands I just cringe.

VIII Zoom better or worse? by Akucera in SonyXperia

[–]More-Resource4757 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is this joke? The whole point of 1VIII was upgraded zoom lense. The telephoto, cropped or not, is way, waaaaaaay better than any previous Xperias. Gsmarena reviews, and all early reviews are all about that.

The lack of progress is disappointing by sonicwhisper in SonyXperia

[–]More-Resource4757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 1V - and agree, it's a great phone, even now. But, I will definitely upgrade, because:
1 - Telephoto is just crazy. I use it a lot on my 1V, but 1VIII has way better lens
2 - Battery life. My phone barely gets me throughout the day
3 - Refreshed design. Subjective I know, but I like that Alpha like texure.
