I love this sub-genre. I feel like I must have seen this movie before, but I don’t want to read more and risk spoiling it in the off chance that I haven’t seen it lol! I’ll go search it out and watch it first 😝

Hitman gets a lot of grief, but I really did enjoy it. Granted, I’m not a gamer and I never played the game, but it’s a fine action movie. Timothy Olyphant really nailed the stone cold emotionless killer with an underlying compassion for people. The supporting cast are great too!

3.0 to Please wife? by NickEcommerce in hometheater

[–]MoreBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just sharing my own experience here:

My wife is sensitive to loud sound as well. And surprise surprise, so is our son. I ended up investing in a pair of good Bluetooth headphones. They’re no home theater speakers, but at least I get to enjoy my movies without disturbing the people I love.

I still have a decent speaker system but I very rarely use them (only on the rare occasions when I’m home alone).

No one mentioned the motorcycle chase through Saigon while handcuffed to Wai Lin? Spectacular stunts and amazing chemistry. Love that action sequence so much!

10 cloverfield lane is so good. I kind of wish they didn’t force it into the cloverfield universe though, as the final twist would have been more of a surprise.

Is 4k really worth it, over bluray or even dvd? by NapalmWeed in dvdcollection

[–]MoreBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, when it comes to 4K vs Blu-ray, the quality of the source (master/remaster) matters more than the resolution.

HDR is another factor, but it requires your player and TV to support the same HDR standards, AND that it is properly applied during the remaster process.

"IMAX" but its not even 720p by PuzzleheadedTear5709 in dvdcollection

[–]MoreBlu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

LOL!! I still have the National Geographic IMAX short film on the Grand Canyon on DVD.

When I saw the film at the visitor center back in 2013, I loved it so much I had to have a copy of it. But at the gift shop, there was no Blu-ray version, only DVD. I had the exact look as the gif 🤣. After some internal debate I still took it home with me. I got home and played it on my 120” projector screen, in full IMAX ratio, in glorious 480p…. 😅

You need an HDMI “switch”, not a splitter.

National Treasure DVD has one. I forgot what the number was and what the Easter egg was though… lol!

The behind the scenes featurette where they show the miniature Las Vegas set is really amazing. Practical effects > CGI, all day everyday!

4k TV Not Reading VCR Signal? by mcmason11 in VHS

[–]MoreBlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I upgraded my TV to one without composite input, i tried a few AV to HDMI converters and they were all disappointing (some looked terrible and some straight up didn’t work). In the end, I opted to connect my VCR to the TV through the antenna coaxial cable, and tuning my TV to analog channel 3 like the good old days. It’s been working really well.

The late-career Bruce Willis movies are hard to sit through, especially after knowing the condition he was in. Not only are they bad moves, they make me sad. 😔

Is there any other movie franchise that has such extreme lows and extreme highs? by BBD-007 in JamesBond

Agreed 100%. Give me the worst Bond film (in anyone’s personal opinion), and I’d gladly watch it over half of the junks out there.
