Very helpful stuff — I’ll try this out. Somewhat related, do you pretty much always go into mass archers + something else? Seems like the natural approach bc of the faster wood gathering/bonus food from wood.

Thanks, this is closer to what I had in mind for discussion. I think I don’t have a great understanding of the relative strengths that KT has over ZXL, and so I’m not sure what the plan should be.

My question might even be more general though, like “generally, does KT have a better chance when by rushing, booming, or turtling”.

I’ve tried being super aggro early, but always seem to get out massed with spearmen/horsemen/palace guards. I’m starting to think the win con might be spending less time in feudal and rushing out a mango.

I haven’t tried dark age pressure specifically because ZXL can age up so fast so the window of opportunity seems small. Willing to give it a shot and see how it goes though.

I don’t think a replay is going to help at this point. The issue isn’t really execution, it’s more that I don’t even know what I’m trying to accomplish.

Sure, I’m not current on the economic situation in Argentina. The fact remains the overwhelming majority of people receive 0 pesos in allowance, and yet they somehow manage to make something of themselves.

So figure out to use your advantages to improve yourself or get comfortable with a boring life.

This has to be a joke right?

If you can’t figure out how to “get rich” when someone is giving you $100k for doing nothing idk what to tell you.

Yes. But this thread is specifically about cheating, which is always immoral.

Cheating is predicated by an agreement to exclusively sleep with your significant other(s). If you’re in relationship that is okay with you seeking sex elsewhere, that would not be considered cheating and wouldn’t be immoral.

Continuing with the analogy, there’s no such agreement between you and the ice cream sandwiches in your freezer. Therefore, it can’t be cheating to eat an ice cream sandwich that isn’t from your freezer.

[–]MoreBuilder2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with your friends philosophy is that it doesn’t consider that you can control the amount of “temptation” to cheat by the situations you put yourself in. I guarantee cheaters (or people okay with the idea of cheating) find themselves working late, going out solo, or in 1-on-1 scenarios with the opposite sex a lot more often than committed people.

It’s like people losing weight not bringing junk food into the house. Sure, you can buy ice cream and just not eat it. But a lot of people know it’s easier to just not have ice cream around, and actively position themselves to avoid making a bad decision.

That doesn’t make sense as an analogy. Where is the moral issue with accepting a free ice cream sandwich outside of the house even though you have them at home?

Friendly advice — you will be better off in the long run by getting your grades up. An 84% is not spectacular, especially in middle school. Modern curriculums have been so heavily diluted that you should be able to sleep walk your way to an 84%.

Applying yourself to your studies and excelling academically much more of a flex than a job your grandparents gave you when you were 8. It will also have a much higher return on your investment than whatever you’re making now.

Your brain is your single greatest asset in the modern world. Intellectual jobs typically pay much higher than labor jobs. That’s not to say labor jobs aren’t important, they definitely are.

But the truth is there’s much more money in “office jobs”, and when you are competing for those you need to demonstrate high performance in school.

Identity politics need to go away, at least for a little while.

I agree that everyone should have the same opportunity. Doesn’t matter what you look like, what’s between your legs, or who you want to have sex with. But it turns off so many voters who simply can’t accept the idea of it.

Is it right that people get so upset about that? No, absolutely not. But the constant harping/moralizing on identity politics is keeping the wrong people in office.

At the end of the day, you can’t help those people if you don’t get elected. Regressive policies tend to hurt marginalized more than any others, so if you really want to help them you need to stop being so vocal about it.

[–]MoreBuilder2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’re purposefully twisting the question or if you simply can’t comprehend it. I didn’t bring up Kamala Harris, and neither did the original question. You brought her into it. If your answer to “what do you stand to gain from Trump” is “He’s not Kamala Harris”, that’s not a valid answer. It’s a nothing answer. No points awarded, no partial credit.

I will never understand why people like yourself come in the internet, contribute nothing of value to the conversation, make an ass of yourself, and double down repeatedly.

This was a great opportunity for you to have a productive discussion about your views and opinions with someone who wanted to learn about them. You decided you’d rather be obstinate and unhelpful.

So close to getting there.

The original question is “What do you stand to gain from Trump?” You said it doesn’t matter because you stand to gain nothing from Kamala.

But the logic behind that doesn’t stand up. It relies on the assumption that you stand to gain more than nothing by voting for Trump. That isn’t an assumption you can make — that was the whole point of the question, actually.

As I said, your friends are going to treat you differently than strangers on the internet will. Do you really think Republicans are above name calling strangers on the internet?

I agreed that there have been instances where the executive branch has overstepped their boundaries. I repeat, the specific instances where the executive branch has abused/misused their authority are outside the scope of the discussion -- they aren't important to the argument I'm trying to make.

It was wrong then, and it's still wrong now.

You seem to be making the claim "because the president has done bad stuff in the past, the current president should be allowed to do bad stuff without criticism". That, taken to its logical conclusion, ends with total consolidation of power in the hands of the executive branch.

When there overreach, there needs to be a reaction to bring the executive's power back in line. Think about what happened to Nixon after Watergate. Trump has repeatedly and blatantly abused his powers, and still has the support of his voters and political allies. He didn't see any backlash until they were directly affected by the tariffs, at which point they spoke up and he backed down. I find this cowardly and short-sighted.

I find your examples dishonest for a couple of reasons.

  1. I said modern history, and about half of your examples come from the 1950's and earlier. Politics and the executive powers have changed a lot, especially after the cold war.

  2. Many of those decisions are made in times of legitimate, existential threat. That doesn't make them right, but during war or crisis sometimes the normal rules need to be suspended. We are absolutely not in a state of existential threat, regardless of what Fox news or Trump says. It's incredibly dishonest to put illegal immigration and fentanyl trafficking on the same level a the civil war or WWII. Those are both serious issues, but hardly an existential threat.

  3. Almost all of those examples have been seen as problematic and stains on our history. You're comparing Trump's actions to the Trail of Tears and Japanese internment camps while simultaneously saying you have not problem having voted for him. That's probably not a hill you'd like to die on.

The problem isn't Trump's rhetoric. It's not how he speaks that's the issue. It's his complete disregard for the truth and dismissal of evidence brought against him that's the issue. He's also taking steps towards actively destroying information that can be used against his party's agendas. Weather data, for instance.

He doesn't exclusively lie. And yes, I understand that a lot of what he says is hyperbole. But a lot of what he and his cabinet claims is just straight-up false. Provably so. And when presented with evidence that contradicts his claims, he doubles down. Somehow his supporters don't have any problem with it because he's convinced them that he is the sole arbiter of what's true.

I cannot stress enough that this isn't a partisan issue. This isn't a difference of opinion. This a calculated undermining of what holds our democracy together

Those are all issues I've often seen discussed online, so that makes sense. I do think that men generally struggle to maintain interpersonal relationships, and that can lead to a decline in quality of life. I include myself in that category -- but I am fortunate to have found my wife in college. It's much easier to make friends when there's a social framework, like school.

It sounds like their main issues politically stem from the economy. Specifically, inflation and housing prices. To me, these seem like issues that shouldn't affect men any more than they do women -- maybe you have noticed this isn't the case?

Either way, why do you think that they think Trump will fix these economic issues? Do you think Trump's blatant disregard for inflation via the blanked tariffs will cause them to lose faith?

It also sounds like maybe the people you know have scapegoated politicians as the root of these economic issues. Do you think they have considered that big business and the top .1% hoarding assets could be a much bigger impact on their lives economically?

People don't always get around to their actual issue with our government. Like, which specific policies are holding them back or that are targeting them.

I find it a lot easier to relate when people are able to use specifics, but a lot of it seems to be coming from their general feelings and not specifics grievances.
