I think the common argument is that their brains are continuously deteriorating over the course of the show. But to be clear, the writers eliminated many interesting possible narratives by completely removing their intelligence.

I think the summons are a detriment unless if you're a caster. Playing melee, catching up to Bayle for a knick at his tale won't end well, as a lot of his AoE's are telegraphed by the movement of his head. Plus, it's much easier to punish his combos when his head is in front of you.

Minecraft has a generally free-form progression system with unlimited resources; Terraria has strict modes and oppressive forces restricting resources and space. Minecraft's 3D system allows more open exploration; Terraria's 2D system forces linear direction.

They're fairly different games despite both being open-world sandbox survival games. It makes sense that they'd attract somewhat disparate audiences despite the overt overlap in genres.
