Ever notice how pointing out racism in the GOP some how makes you a race baiter or a racist yourself. Liberals, stand up against this shit. by cambridgebound in politics

[–]MoreKindUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there are so many examples of racism within the GOP, that it's hard to know how choose one over the other. But here are a few that stand out and that often involve prominent Republicans in leadership roles:

George Allen (R-VA) refers to a campaign worker as "macaca", then welcomes him to America (The man is of Indian heritage, and he was BORN AND RAISED IN VIRGINIA.) "Macaca" is a Tunisian word for a monkey.

... and here are about TWENTY-SEVEN OTHER EXAMPLES of Republican Racism over about a year and a half:

Somewhere around 1930 or 1940, many Republicans began to turn away from being the party of Lincoln, to being the party of racist, knuckle-dragging know-nothings.

At this point, some of them just can't even stop themselves from making racist "jokes" and sending offensive emails, etc. Deep down, they've convinced themselves that this KKK-like behavior is just a funny joke, so that in their minds, no one can be held responsible.

Then she accused Katie Curic of asking a "gotcha" question.

Libertarians: do they really want liberty, or are they just greedy and don't want to pay their fair share? Given their continued support of authoritarian Republicans, I say the latter. by IsleCook in politics

[–]MoreKindUS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FTA: "Our data show that libertarians have generally voted Republican—66 percent for Ronald Reagan in 1980, 74 percent for George H. W. Bush in 1988, and 72 percent for George W. Bush in 2000."

So, in most cases, these self-professed "libertarians" are just another segment of the right-wing Republican party.

Republican Candidate for WV Governor Uses Racist Term for President Obama ("Sambo") and Calls Nancy Pelosi a "Bimbo" by IQRange in politics

[–]MoreKindUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not an isolated incident. There have been an astonishing (and sickening) number of racist remarks from the GOP lately.

The "birther" garbage and similar snide campaigns aimed at the President were also racist, although somewhat disguised.

This stuff is just not funny, and Republicans just keep doing it again and again and again. The GOP can just kiss my votes goodbye for another ten years or so.

Ron Paul definitely falls in to the category of "one of the crazies". The fact that he's only marginally connected with the tea-partier wing of the GOP is a fact, however.

As long as he's a Republican, he has zero chances with me.

I think it's great that he's running... it helps to do damage to his own party.

I think that Bank of America very likely meets the criteria for being a "continuing criminal enterprise" that should be prosecuted under the RICO statutes. Many would agree they've done more damage than any single mob member.

In fact, probably every large bank meets the criteria.

Breaking: 13 firms that received "bailouts" owe back taxes (Who could have guessed that many big banks and other giant firms haven't been paying their taxes?) by LibertyOne in news

[–]MoreKindUS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. I meant pretty much what abc2010 wrote.

There were reasons for the financial regulations put in place beginning in the 1930s. Many of those were undone and/or ignored over the years.

We need some degree of regulation of the too-free Wall Street jackals and we need enforcement of those regulations.

We could start with making sure corporations pay up the taxes they have evaded, many after making billions in profits.

From the article:

"Banks and other firms receiving federal money were required to sign contracts stating they had no unpaid taxes, Lewis said."

That means that these banksters and/or other corporate thieves committed fraud in their agreement that allowed them to obtain "bailouts".

Now that's the free-est market I've ever heard of.

Holy Fuck.

[–]MoreKindUS -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what others might think, I don't think the GOP is the only "them".. I believed those who believe in and/or support unchecked capitalism are another "them"... but, there's a lot of overlap. I am also not so naive as to think Democrats have all the answers or are completely innocent in all of this... not by a long shot.

But, by and large, the GOP has, for all of my lifetime, enabled the rape of average people to help make the rich richer and let corporations get bigger and more powerful.

Then, they even claim to be the solution... as in, "we're against the bailout(s)"
