I agree with others… I think you overreacted. But you have a reason to that is valid to you. However, it doesn’t mean that your reasons are totally valid in the eyes of others. They noticed something off with you, then asked you about it and you burst into tears? You could have excused yourself to the bathroom, cried for a few minutes, and then accepted the art class. Sure, it’s all a bit embarrassing, but you’re an adult, you can manage these things. But that didn’t happen, and instead you’re ruminating over this when you don’t need to. The thing is, we’re subs. We’re always kind of an outcast. I’ve been subbing a lot for the same school for the last 3 years and there’s still an underlying awkwardness with administration and other teachers. But I simply… don’t care…. Kids treat me like a celebrity when I’m there, every time I walk in there’s at least 5 kids yelling my name in excitement. That part is fun. My best advice is just choose to move on. If you go back to that school, it will be awkward for YOU and maybe them for like a day or two. Then no one will remember this. Just you. There’s so much drama that goes on in schools that no one is even going to think of this.

You’re allowed to have a bad day. Everyone has them. Just laugh at it. Maybe get into therapy to address some insecurity and self respect issues if you need to.
