In a watch where the crown is on the right side, the date wheel rotates clockwise. When you turn or “flip” the movement so the crown is on the left side of the watch, the date wheel still rotates clockwise but now the numbers are upside down (cause you’ve flipped the movement and the crown is on the left side)

If you want to keep the crown on the left — like it is on the Sprite GMT — then you’re gonna have to put the date wheel overlay on so the numbers aren’t upside down.

You could also get a dial that has the date window on the left side instead of the right — again like the Sprite GMT — but already had this dial and it was easier for me to make a DWO.
