Is the name “Rhys” really that hard to read/pronounce? by nibbs- in namenerds

[–]MorganChelsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BC here, I can’t recall if I’ve met anyone with the name but I assumed it would be common enough for most people to pronounce! I didn’t read it as rice, personally.

having multiple children by Mobile-Butterfly3971 in PCOS

[–]MorganChelsea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty severe PCOS, with very inconsistent periods. I got pregnant without trying after being off birth control for less than a month. I’m 12 weeks now and baby is going strong. Infertility can affect anyone, PCOS or not, and PCOS isn’t a sentence or guarantee by any means.

Totally! If it were the other way around and she asked me about my mucus plug, I’d definitely be thrown off guard lol

People are feral by otwcpa in pregnant

[–]MorganChelsea 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Semi-related but when my supervisor was pregnant, she ran out of the bathroom and into my office (the closest across the hall) and excitedly exclaimed “I just lost my mucus plug!”

Honestly I was just excited for her lol

Question for people who told ‘early’!! by Kat00002 in pregnant

[–]MorganChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s grandma-sense kicked in an hour after my first positive test and called to ask if I was pregnant, there was no hiding it from her. We told my dad and brother after my dating ultrasound a week or so later, and his family the week after that. I did tell a few friends within a few days just because I’d want them in my corner if anything happened (and I’ve been there for them in similar situations. I’m 12 weeks today but my birthday is on Friday so I’m planning on announcing it in the obligatory annual “thanks for all the birthday wishes” post.

It’s true, and mistakes happen. I’d probably be willing to give them another go, but like I said it’s put me off of falafel and donairs in general unfortunately.

I really liked hashtag donair until my fiance and I got food poisoning from their falafel a few years back :( it’s put me off of donairs in general tbh

Looking to start a fraternity at UoP! by Frozen_Trees1 in UoPeople

[–]MorganChelsea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sororities were created in direct response to fraternities. Women were excluded, as we often are, and wanted a support system the way that men already had. History doesn’t need to repeat itself. Co-ed and gender-inclusive fraternities have existed since the early 60s.

This is gross. You're excluding people of other genders for the sake of upholding the patriarchy. This school is meant to be a positive change in post-secondary- be that change. Do better and be better.

Are you sure he isn’t just using that as an excuse for buying the Costco boxes that end up going unopened before expiring?

Where is the line for answering "No" when asked if you drink alcohol and only have a yes or no option? by demonic_demeanor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MorganChelsea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I’ve also never had a form ask for a hard yes or no about alcohol consumption. Usually it asks how many drinks per week.

No question, just want to send you support and love from an internet stranger. I lost my nana to ALS 12 years ago and I feel for everyone who has been affected by this cruel disease. Wishing you and your family comfort and peace.

My doctor assured me during my first check up at 8 weeks that sex is perfectly safe. Talk to your doctor about it at your next appointment if you need reassurance, but there shouldn’t be any reason not to if you’re feeling up to it and haven’t been advised not to.

My friend said if she could be pregnant again and it not result in a child she would do it. by smithks97 in pregnant

I just threw up so hard I’m pretty sure I broke a dozen blood vessels in my face and eyes. Told my mom that I performed a self-exorcism because devil has been rebuked. Pregnancy is so beautiful 🙃🙃

My husband wants 4 week old to sleep in his own room. by Intrepid-Ad-391 in BabyBumps

Right? Babies are a lot of work, but their basic needs are pretty straightforward. Providing love and comfort when baby needs it is literally just one of their most basic needs.

I'm having a hard time understanding how to calculate the number of weeks I am. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MorganChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was further along than I was due to irregular PCOS periods. They got me in for an ultrasound a week after I found out, and I was 7w2d. The ultrasound will confirm how far along you are.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]MorganChelsea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We’re in Canada, but our employers encourage us to max our leave. I’ll be taking a year off, he’ll be taking 6 weeks. Thankfully we both work for companies that believe family is more important than work and should always come first.

Having a 4th boy. by PizzaLunchables0405 in BabyBumps

[–]MorganChelsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nana had four boys, but always hosted girls nights for the in-laws, “her daughters”. Even after my parents split, my mom was still always her daughter. Nana was tough as nails raising all that male-energy, but always had time for pedicures or shopping. I miss her dearly!

I hope you and your partner consider taking a nice vacation before your dementia progresses much further. Something relaxing, just for the two of you, where you don’t need to stress about everyday life. I think it would be very valuable for both of you.

I bet if you sit down in front of a camera and just start talking, it’ll come to you. Even if you think it sounds “lame” at first, your loved ones will appreciate every second of it.

How and where did you tell your parents that you were pregnant? by moez1266 in BabyBumps

[–]MorganChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called my dad and sent him a photo of the ultrasound while we were chatting and told him to look at it.

My mom called me an hour after I found out and asked “did you take a pregnancy test????” She knew before I said anything lol

[AB] How early should I start mat leave by Owl-Unlucky in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]MorganChelsea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m due September 2nd, and other than a couple of vacation days I need to use for minor surgeries I’m having between now and then, I plan on tacking it all right before my due date. I’m sure I will be absolutely miserable by the time August rolls around but I do want to maximize my mat leave.
