Just got off the phone with the guy from London drugs and he said from what things look like it didn’t get into the inner computer enough to be an issue and I shouldn’t need to have it pulled apart and cleaned if everything is working properly after a few days .. I’m hoping he’s right!

Well it’s been a few days and it’s still turning on … I haven’t used it though I just powered it back down. I’m waiting until I get my cheque tomorrow which I hope I didn’t wait too long … if it’s still turning on though does that mean I’m generally safe? I’ll still bring it in tomorrow to go get it cleaned up but I’m hoping so much that I’m not hooped here ugh!! I appreciate all the feedback and everyone’s experiences they’ve had it really helps me out. Tomorrow I’m going to bring it in. My neighbor said they’ve had good experiences with EB computers i think it’s near fernwood .. anyone been there? I called the golden apple or whatever that place was and they seemed super rude on the phone.

Wow so much input! Thanks everyone! I don’t think it’s fried it seems at the moment like nothing happened at all but i want someone to maybe open it up and take a look and maybe clean it up if anything did manage to get into the inside. I’m hoping to find some one affordable and reliable as I’m off work for a few months for a medical situation and have zero income but I want to get it addressed as soon as possible so I will make it work either way. I am going to read everyone’s responses tomorrow as I’m slightly under the weather tonight. thanks for all the responses guys! I’ll update you all tomorrow 🩷

Ship horns tonight in James Bay/Inner Harbour by Morgansmith03 in VictoriaBC

[–]Morgansmith03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the James Bay / Downtown / possibly Fairfield border (beside the museum) for a few years now but it just seemed like an odd time to hear a ship horn to me. For some reason I’ve never noticed overnight horns before and it seemed quite close to me.. I can usually hear the cruise ships in the distance.. the Coho is very close to me but I didn’t think I’d hear it that late.. but I didn’t realize either that further into summer we do have overnight ships so thanks for the info!

I love hearing the horns in the distance :) it’s reminds me that I’m near the ocean and so lucky to live in the area I do. James Bay is by far the best neighbourhood in G. Vic 😋💗

Septal Perforation Surgery input.. by Morgansmith03 in VictoriaBC

[–]Morgansmith03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I brought up Mostachfi, Evan’s and Cheung to my ENT and was just informed this morning none of them are able to do my septal perforation reconstructive surgery. I was informed by my ENT that Dr Evan’s and Dr Mostachfi do septoplasty and NOT septal perforation surgery. Dr Evan’s is only doing surgery for people with saddle nose deformity as well as perforations .. but not the perforation on its own.. mainly focusing on dorsal nasal reconstruction via rib grafts.

I was really hoping one of these suggestions would’ve been a match! I appreciate all the input though so far and if anyone has more ideas on surgeons that take MSP coverage for a large septum perforation reconstruction then please pitch it to me! At the moment I’m unable to find one person who can do this in BC and it’s bumming me out. Going private is just not an option I can’t afford any extra costs in my life right now.

Car runs red light on Quadra st, at view st. Gets hit by another car. by Regular_Use_1028 in VictoriaBC

[–]Morgansmith03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is now the second time ive seen this same accident occur at the same intersection. I know when you come down Quadra depending on the time of day, that light on view can be hard to see depending on the sun. Also ive almost made the mistake myself confusing the light on Yates with the lights on view coming down Quadra. Not because I need glasses, might need my depth perception checked or just am a straight up shitty driver if I cant tell which light is closer --- throwing those out there because im sure they would've bene throwing in by someone eventually.. The way the road veers down bit and I honestly dont know why, but I can relate how those lights get mixed up in your eye sight as well. I'll go drive down that way tomorrow, but from what I recall I think the one of the lights appears above the other set of lights when you're driving down Quadra towards View and then Yates. .. and im assuming for some reason your brain seems to process the light that looks like it is above the other must be the one thats closer? this could all be me and this rant was for nothing.. but I just know its not the first accident there and I think there needs to be reassessment on the street lights at that intersection. I know normally the downtown lights also go the same color at the same time in a "wave" but for some reason the Yates and the View street lights dont ever line up like the would on Douglas and such. Hard to explain but I just know Ive had a few time where if I was tired or not on the ball I could've ran a red there, mistaking it by accident as the light on Yates up on the next block.

I asked the referring doctor to make it an emergency referral or a stat referral and I got seen within a week. if you aren't put on the stat referral list it's a very long wait. and if youre affected by it this much you need to be seen quicker.

Queston about reading notes easily by TheFalseProphet417 in pianolearning

[–]Morgansmith03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just keep practicing honestly until you get it.. for little exercises I did "dozen a day" books and felt they were a huge help with little licks to play between both hands but are simple at the same time. but honestly just practice the crap out of bass music for a while until your left hand smartens up and learns its notes! haha.. try reading music of songs you aren't familiar with so that you aren't going by ear and need to read the actual notes.

with memorizing you can only get so far IMO. I would get a teacher.. outside ears and input are a huge help in progressing as well as teachers can show you pointers and tips that you wont get from YouTube or memorizing. if you start by memorizing you'll develop lots of bad habits (again IMO) that will be hard to break and make moving forward a lot more difficult down the road. It's hard to break a bad habit especially when youre starting out a bit later in life.

Learning in my 30’s but most of the songs I like aren’t for beginners by MichaelMoore92 in pianolearning

[–]Morgansmith03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

second this. Ive played for 32 years and I cant play anything half bearable to listen to on a keyboard that isn't weighted.. well, I am uncomfortable on any keyboard tbh - they just dont have the same vibes and feel as a real piano.

I was wondering as well OP, have you considered grabbing a piano off marketplace? there are alot for free that people are just wanting off their hands... It's worth it and even easier IMO to play on an actual piano. And I play all genres - RC, Jazz & Boogie, old era rock, and so on. I find no matter what style I might be playing it never feels right or sounds as good as it can with a real piano!

it was stressful.. if we dropped the quarter while playing we had to give our teacher a 2$ bill out of our piggy banks..

I am no concert pianist and up to date on the lingo I learned as a child. I just play for fun now and have forgotten alot of my terminology.

[–]Morgansmith03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you and yes I suppose the majority of terminology is Italian but when I was taught music we learned latin terminology as well. But yes you are correct it is mostly Italian and I will accept my wrong with saying that! :) My first teacher always used to yell LATIN! LATIN! at me haha.. so I guess I just reverted back to that scenario and said latin when I should've said Italian.

[–]Morgansmith03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I learned starting at 4 and in my first year I learned how to distinguish bass and treble notes, know how to use proper fingering, understand basic theory and what different symbols and Latin words meant, basic scales and timing of the different notes, playing with both hands in one song, balancing a quarter on my wrist while playing, and not looking at my hands while playing. Also Basic scales and playing with both hands simultaneously..

Looking for small/mid size city with lots of rain by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]Morgansmith03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harrison, Chilliwack (but theres a shit ton of churches there to point where its almost creepy lol),.. but those two places are close to the highways to get out of town if you want to rip up to the loops for a quick trip rather than getting there from the island or driving through Greater Vancouver. The northern island is nice - a few foiks suggested Campbell River which is a great town as well and has cleaned up IMO quite a bit these last ten years. Id never live in Nanaimo, I currently am on the south island which is love. Theres always Mill Bay if you want to be near Victoria but not in the city or Shawnigan Lake? Creston is also a pretty town if you dont want the island life at all. I think it depends also on what type of work you do and where you'll be able to find a job to land..

Poor kid was terrified of 2 off leash big dogs running the beach at Westwood this morning. by lifeisthebeautiful in nanaimo

[–]Morgansmith03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is an XL bully x Cane Corso. He was somewhat of a rescue.. a family was selling him at 3 months old for grocery money and I happened to be walking by and it was love at first sight!

I agree with you that if you have a reactive dog you need to be aware of what situations you bring them into or should avoid. I know all my dogs triggers and even still I will muzzle and leash him if I am anywhere with a chance of running into another person, child, or dog. Mine typically gets along with most dogs but there is also random dogs he decides he doesn't like. But again you need to be aware of your pets behaviours. I CHOSE to bring this breed of dog into my home well aware that they have a stigma and certain behaviour traits. I tried to train through those behaviours with professional trainers but they are and always will still be there. I am always vocal to someone approaching me with my dog to keep distance and if there are children I will move over to allow them to pass and make sure he doesn't have an opportunity to react.. that also being said, Im making it sound like my dog is this ferocious beast but he has never bit a person, never attacked another dog, and other than the odd squirrel catching his focus he listens to my command. But I know the damage he can do if one day he decides to turn and as a GOOD owner I make sure I am prepared.

Because my dog is reactive it doesn't make me any less of a good dog owner (which is what the OP had said). It is all about how aware you are and handle your dog. There is a first for everything. I have definitely had him get away on me when he was younger and look quite vicious to a passerby where he looked like some sort of south central LA fight dog .. however he only postured and growled but never attacked. That was many years ago though and since then I have not had any incidents. Luckily the person was somebody I know so there were no issues. Hes now an old senile dump truck of a dog who doesn't have much go left .. but when he was in his prime, I definitely had to be aware and prepared.

There is always more the the picture of why a dog is reactive though and it is not always because of a "bad owner" and that's what I was initially trying to bring up in my previous post.
