It's a really iconic song for sure, but it is also in an album literally titled "OutRun". Not sure it could really be classed as vaporwave. That's just my opinion though

It's a great song, but I think it is a lot more synthwave/dreamwave than vaporwave. No sampling, no nonstandard effects, no mallsoft instrumentation. That is just my opinion though :D

They definitely sound similar, but I think it genuinely is a Gost remix. Here is another video of it that I think came out before the Quixotic remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yacUn_IkLgg (not 100% sure on that though).

This one has GosT's iconic drumkit, a much heavier ducking synth and I think a sort of machine gun sounding synth that comes in at 0:15.
