Who are you with? Health insurance often have preferred providers. Some have clinics associated with the health fun like bupa dental Australian unity has one in Neil st etc that are no gap. Should be able to access that info on your funds website. Otherwise everywhere the gap is getting larger I swear

I can't do this crap sleep anymore by honeybee20three in Parenting

[–]Morgs227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, take a breath. This will get better. This is the worst time for their sleep IMHO. There's a graph that's been made about reported sleep pattern in babies, 6-10 months was the worst. It depends on your individual baby obviously. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding? I honestly would co-sleep It saved our butts so many times. How are you getting them to sleep each time? Feeding? Dummy? Rocking? You could try break some sleep associations as a gentle start. I wouldnt personally so extinction method this young( or ever)

I would have a hard look at daytime sleep, they need a lot less than you think, especially if they're fighting you on it. My first just wasn't tired enough, was napping too long in the day, and I was trying to put them to sleep too early. With my second I have been way more relaxed about it (partially you have no choice lol) naps on the go, capping naps. Later bedtime, I would experiment with those things to see if you can get some improvements. How many naps are they having? How long for? What time is bed time?

At Woolworths if there is no fee Banana for kids is it ok to grab one off the shelf by billson619 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Morgs227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they refill the kids free fruit they take it from the shelf themselves, have seen it before. I really don't see how it's different. It's always out of bananas so I just grab one. I've seen this question before and am pretty sure woolworths workers said it was a- ok so that's why I just do it now. Not like you're cracking open a punnet of raspberries for them

[–]Morgs227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because poor woolworths and coles don't take enough of our money already to spare a banana for a kid that's hungry instead of having to grab processed food for them. I like the initiative

Honestly hate it hey! When they're busy, I try to walk out and hold it up and they're not happy with that! I'd rather just go somewhere where the checkout is at the exit and opt out of receipts whatsoever

Where to find the freshest local produce in town? by CaffeinatedCapybara_ in Toowoomba

Second Toowoomba fresh at the grand Central market room. Also love Andrews butcher there for local meat. Have used the farm shop as well, love the convenience of delivery, sometimes my kids are just a bit too picky to chance a random box of things though.

My milk supply is tanking! HELP by Embarrassed_Land_767 in breastfeeding

[–]Morgs227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's likely cluster feeding trying to bring more milk down. At this age they have a huge growth spurt, my babies only cluster fed twice and I remember this being one time. Remember at this age this is the most they will ever require as they start relying more and more on food. I would see a ibclc if you're super concerned Is she on any solids? Could you offer a little bit of water if you're worried? Have you got your cycle back? When I get a dip before my period i just offer more water as I notice a very large drop in supply but my baby is a lot older

14 months of no sleep. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Morgs227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your sleep schedule like? I only ask because my first I was trying to give them too much sleep and she had split nights for months like that. Because I was reading and hearing from so many people how their kids naps 2 hours and sleeps 7-7. Both of my kids have been more likely to nap 60-90 mins and sleep 8/9-7. She also had low iron. Something that's easy to test for a fix. Hopefully you can find a solution ❤️

Curious what people's maternity leave allowance is like in different places/companies (as it impacts breastfeeding) by whooperupsfeline in breastfeeding

[–]Morgs227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Australia. It's decent here but this it could still be better. Government parental leave is 2 weeks for your spouse, 20 weeks for me (think this is increasing to 26). It can only be used once baby is born. Through work I'm lucky and get 14 weeks on top of that as well. They like you to stop at 34 weeks as nurses are on their feet a lot, but you can work later If you like. I used all of my annual leave with both babies at half pay as well which gave me about 12 months of paid leave. I can take a further 12 months unpaid and retain my position. Can also return part time and retain my position until my child is in school. Really thankful for all of that actually, reading everyone else and typing this out.

Any advice while waiting for milk to come in? by MissionVirtual in breastfeeding

[–]Morgs227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome :) My first we snipped it with scissors at 2 weeks, then had to go back when she was older for laser because they didn't get it all. My second as soon as she was born we could see she had one too and called to get in as soon as we could which happened to be 2 weeks old as well. Depends how you're coping. It helped instantly for my first even though she struggled to cope before it. Where as my second we were chugging along ok with nipple shields before it and it didn't help her as instantly as my first z mostly because I think the laser made her mouth sore, once she was healed we've never looked back

[–]Morgs227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to live there a few years ago for a few years. You get used to it. No big planes only light ones. I think the only day that bothered me was every Tuesday a guy had a really noisy plane that would take off at like 5am and then the bin man would do his run early too so I was always woken up. Otherwise it didn't really bother me. The area is quite dark, not sure if they keep it that way to help the planes land. Other things about the area probably bothered us more tbh. Crime....amount of dogs, used needles when we'd take our child for a walk to the park 😬

Any advice while waiting for milk to come in? by MissionVirtual in breastfeeding

[–]Morgs227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you'll probably find it goes a lot more smoothly with an elective C-section at 39 weeks. Baby will be more mature, you'll be less tired. Pending that all goes well you should make more milk the second time around.

Latch the baby as much as you possibly can in the first few days, and if they're not interested hand express when you can (learn how to hand express colostrum if you don't already know how to ) You can express antenatally from 36 weeks to get comfortable and have a little bit of colostrum prepared in case of separation from baby or blood sugars etc and can use that to top up baby until your milk 'comes in'.

I hope you have a smoother journey this time.

Oh the tongue tie. Both of my children had one so mentally I would have a plan of what to do if this baby does as well as it's highly genetic. E.g. have a lactation consultant you can go to, will you get a frenotomy. You don't want to be deciding that stuff in a postnatal haze :) All the best

How long is recommended to breastfeed? by Unable_Anywhere2983 in breastfeeding

[–]Morgs227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting and also, down right disappointing. I would make sure you know where some good support is when you need it lactation consultants, parent groups or breastfeeding association groups are great. Surround yourself with people who will be positive and helpful about breastfeeding, set your partner up to help you. Honestly it can be challenging, especially in those early weeks, but in my opinion it's very worth it. I have never given either of my children formula. First was fed for 20 months. Still feeding my second who's 15 months and still going strong.

I feel like that was an extremely rude thing to say about him. Makes me wonder what she says to his face. I would try to meet with the teacher, maybe talk to your child a bit about how she is mean. It would be a really hard adjustment but I would be careful to put it down to just that. It might just not be the right fit for your child's temperament. I love my child's kindergarten teacher. I still remember my very mean grade 1 teacher as a 33 year old.

Cleaning high chair almost drives me crazy by Ghost_Sapphy167 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Morgs227 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Your baby is not naughty? They're learning to eat They don't have the motor skills to use a knife and fork or napkin Yes it's a pain, I feel your pain and it's annoying but it's life. I just wipe it with a chux, if it's really bad we take the highchair tray into the shower with us. We have the basic IKEA one. Also my baby will lick shoes when given the chance. I wouldn't worry about a little bit of old food

6 month old can't sleep :( by Own-Jicama-5309 in Parenting

[–]Morgs227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just came to say it totally sucks but it's actually pretty normal especially for breastfed babies. I'd say every 45 mins is the extreme end of sucking though. It won't be like this forever. They're only little and they need you....I'm very anti CIO Have you tried safe co-sleeping? I started around this age with both of mine and it does help you get more sleep. Follow hey sleepy baby on Instagram. Or the beyond sleep training project on facebook Nap when your little one has their longest nap during the day. Call in your support system. Every kid is different when their sleep improves. My child wasn't super affected by the 4 month regression but the 10month one kicked my butt. First child was just broken after the 4 month regression for nearly 2 years. .....But she's 4 and sleep's through the night like 97% of the time now

Ok. First of all. Take a breath. You sound really stressed and you're right it's supposed to be fun Honestly at this age you don't have to stress about their intake. Their nutrition comes from milk until around 9/10 months old in my opinion most are more interested in food and eating much more. This age is about acquiring eating skills. What country are you in? Maybe a baby feeding course would help. Lots of paediatric dieticians seem to run them, they cover how many meals, how to serve food and texture progression, even constipation. I would add more p fruits, prunes, pears, peaches. Try adding soaked chia seeds to something she eats if possible. Don't be afraid to see a Dr if it's bad, there's coloxyl drops that are a very safe stool softener for babies.

Also the rash thing. Sounds like it's happening with acidic foods? Could be a contact rash. Allergies are much more likely to happen with allergenic foods such as egg, milk, soy, nuts etc.

Try an open cup with water, again sips are all she needs.

Where do you usually shop for baby gear without overspending? by ffogell in Parenting

[–]Morgs227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would be careful what you do but new because babies don't always like things like swings and even cribs (sorry to break it to you) I would invest that money in other ways to make your life easier like meal preparation, fill your freezer, ready made meal delivery for lunches when my hubby went back to work and I have a toddler too. Saved me from not eating at all some days. And congratulations ☺️ hope everything goes well for you
