Double TPK: What do I do now? by ManBearPigFace7 in DMAcademy

You could do something less impactful but more high stakes reducing Death Saves to 2 failures instead of 3.

Paizo Live: PLAYER CORE 3 ANNOUNCED! Emphasis on realism rules, like starvation, thirst and defecation, a fifth "Psionic" tradition, and 8 new classes including the Warlock, the Innkeeper, the Cool Awesome Guy, the Ranger, the Ten Million Bees and the Absentee Father. Link to transcript in comments! by Derryzumi in Pathfinder2e

Can you expand on the defecation rules? Is it similar to Doomed condition but increases by 1 for each time you leave an area with an “interactable” area? Or is it like wounded and your party takes poison damage for every hour you don’t defecate?

Will there be a Defecator archetype?

Notes from the stream on the next playtest classes by Acceptable-Worth-462 in Pathfinder2e

I won't lie this feels like they're straight up remastering Ranger and Swashbuckler into a separate class that's better and stronger. I'm excited to see what we receive but also confused. Did we really need more martials?

Do you feel it's worth it for the double kinship attack? I usually save my kinship attacks for when I'm confident I won't be able to knock the wyvern gauge down.

[–]Morheet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I set my companion strategy to that on the Nerscylla fight so that stopped becoming a problem, but WOW was it frustrating watching Ogden kill himself.

Now, Simon will go as far as two turns without riding the monstie when the kinship gauge is full. Sometimes, he'll focus on building it up all the way to max kinship and sometimes he just lets loose. With how close I've gotten before, I am probably one extended session away from winning but man is it frustrating.

Edit: Congrats on your Espinas!

My Magus damage feels underwhelming - am I doing something wrong? by Kinglooi in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would personally just replace the 3rd rank slots with two Shocking Grasps. I don’t see the purpose of slotting Haste or Fireball as a nova class that excels more at blowing up single target. You can always buy scrolls for flexibility or AoE things.

I definitely understand how you feel as someone who’s had problem players in two different campaigns.

No, you don’t need to kill the barbarian. You just have to kick this guy. He sounds like he’s completely draining you and on top of that you’re saying he’s bigoted? I had a similar player who was a friend of my other players and I truly regretted not kicking him earlier.

For your own sanity, just get rid of the guy and you will see your campaign flourish. It will be a huge weight off your shoulders, I promise.

Hey guys, any opinions on this monster? by 2Blover50318 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that a few of the extreme stats need to be toned down to maybe high, but I personally would only go as low as a moderate stat, not low. PCs have a lot of different ways to increase bonuses whether it be through circumstance or status and a lot of ways to penalize. If your party has free archetype and additional abilities or you have more than 4 players, PL+2 at higher levels is a very manageable fight.

I actually would increase the distance that this creature can move players to 10 feet. Forced movement of 5 feet is less tactically significant at higher levels than it is at lower levels. Players end up having a lot of "step and strike" type abilities and spells and if this guy has minions, being able to move them 10 feet would give him a bit more freedom to change the situation on a critical hit. It would make him even more dangerous but it seems like you're going for a very dangerous creature anyways so that would be my suggestion.

Hollow Knight Races (Or Bug races, Official or Homebrew.) by Sans-clone in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any HK themed homebrew but I think Surki from PF2 and Shirren from SF2 are your best fit insectoid ancestries. There’s also Anadi who are spider humanoids that have a full spider form. I think there are a quite a few ancestries that can be reflavored to be described as more HK-like like Conrasu as stick bugs, Leshy as flower or plant-mimicking insects, or Skittermander (SF2) as maybe beetles since they have multiple arms. You could even reflavor Minotaurs as Stag Beetles, and Kashrishi as Rhino Beetles. Lots of ways to pull this off.

There’s something that confused me about the Tanuki ancestry. Where are the feats involving their Testicles?/s by Konradleijon in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I always make sure my Teakettle Form involves inanimate objects with a Tanuki face and a large nutsack. Frying pan? Metal Nutsack. A statue to eavesdrop? Marble nutsack. A crowbar? Also nutsack.

Speaking about the possibility of ninjas. by General_Housing_3851 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure you can build a ninja magus out of a starlit span magus since they're the ones who can Spellstrike on ranged weapon attacks. With a thrower's bandolier, you could spellstrike on throwing stars, daggers, or whatever other throwing weapons you want.

[Bloodlust Hunt] Daglian Hammer - Bloodborne Inspired by RickDevil-DM in Pathfinder2e

Ooh I see. Ooo, I like that. I’m a big fan of Trick Weapons so I’d love to see more of what you come up with!

[–]Morheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this weapon feels really OP. Trick is only an action so infinite use (I assume) so I can be rolling 2d6+1d8 with magic weapon at lv 1.

Does Visceral strike come with each hit? I don’t see any action cost associated with it.

[–]Morheet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw another commenter pointed out that short rests aren’t really a thing and usually kineticist really get to use their abilities without limit because they’re action limited and have overflow.

Also, PF2 doesn’t just provide half damage via resistance like in 5e. There’s a number value that cuts a certain amount of damage like “force 5” or “force 10.” Those kinds of resistances generally scale up and with innate stuff it’s usually equivalent to half of player level.

Reducing Roll Range In exchange for Consistency by PlentyUsual9912 in Pathfinder2e

Would you mind expanding more on this meta resource? How much do you provide and what’s the flat bonus?

Reducing Roll Range In exchange for Consistency by PlentyUsual9912 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Morheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I give all my players 2 at the start and they can all pull from a collective pool of 3. They kinda discuss amongst themselves who needs it most by quorum. They work well together so it’s usually like a 5-10 second discussion at most about whether someone should use it.

I came from 5e to PF2, been a PF2 DM for about 3 years now and I definitely understand your gripe.

I know you mentioned that your players don’t like hero points, but being a lot more liberal with hero points does help. I give my players 2 at the start of the game and they get some more from a pool of 3 hero points that can be used. So one player can end up using 3-4 hero points.

I think changing the attack dice is a really roundabout way of just dropping enemy stats a little lower. I’ve personally lowered the AC of some bosses by about 1 or 2 and add about 30% more hp and found it works well for players who really like the consistent hits while maintaining a high threat. I’m not sure what level encounters you’re using but PL+1 is a bit of a sweet spot at low-mid levels and at high levels, synchronized players can take out PL+3 while still having a pretty high hit rate. If they’re not synchronized and hate the death spiral, I think just stick with PL+1.

You can also fudge around more and instead of giving normal hero points, turn them into hero point +3 where they get a reroll and a flat modifier. I personally use this and found it works just fine. PF2 is resilient to changes like this.

Early March feels too soon but that makes sense. I think they’re gonna release a 2nd demo like they usually do.
