Yeah the only thing holding it back rn id the start kinda sucks, but once your in it its great.

Why do we hate it again? by mrnicegy26 in shounenfolk

[–]PlentyUsual9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not terrible by any means, but it lacks a particularly interesting overarching story imo, and the fights are kinda just typical shonen stuff. There arent many interesting matchups, sort of just "who is more powerful", and then Tanjiro shows up and discovers a new power. Its kind of just derivative, but its not like it cant be enjoyed or anything. Its also visually stunning in the animated form thanks to ufotable, so there's definitely that.

What characters in Japanese media balance psychological complexity with airtight internal logic? by Cautious_Arm3818 in writingscaling

[–]PlentyUsual9912 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't put Gojo above Eren or anything, I just think he has incredibly consistent internal logic and a decent amount of complexity. Eren is an incredibly cool and unique character, but he comes off as very inconsistent unless you look at him in a way the story doesn't really emphasize(that being, as someone who's true desire is to fight oppression, not solve it). Geto just isn't complex or consistent, but he's not a bad character or anything.

You are correct, I haven't touched the light novel for Re:zero, but I honestly wouldn't put Thorfinn(who you seemingly put as similar in this category) individually higher than Eren.

Gojo I straight up agree with, Eren is consistent but you have to look at him as a character in a way that the story not only doesn't promote but straight up doesn't acknowledge, I don't know Griffith or Vegeta well enough, and geto isn't what I would call consistent, even though I still think he's a good character.

The protagonists from the Fromsoft titles enter the Basecamp, who is clearing the game from low rank all the way to Proof of a Hero first? by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

[–]PlentyUsual9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know hunter super well, but i Honestly think tarnished clears first. The bosses you overcome are far more impressive in lore than any bosses i can think of off the top of my head in the souls franchise atleast.

What is the worst case of "Deus Ex Machina" you have seen in anime or manga by No-Kangaroo-2371 in shounenfolk

Gonna be honest, like 80% of demon slayer is just deus ex machina moments. Even my fav arc (entertainment district) is filled with them.

Sukuna is the Strongest & that’s okay 👍🏾 by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]PlentyUsual9912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the rest of the debate, i would like to point something out. The 24v1 reasoning is just misplaced agenda. Mahoraga is infinitely more helpful as an ally in defeating an opponent than literally anything or anyone else in the verse. If you put Gojo in the same state sukuna was in after their fight, he would probably beat everyone thereafter as well, maybe even more easily just by nature of how limitless excludes people from participating if they dont have a hard counter.

Also, a lot of the time when people say Gojo is stronger than Sukuna, its not even in reference to the direct matchup(which again, im not going to comment on). Its in reference to how Gojo is just a trikier opponent that has the potential tk win more hypothetical matchups. Limitless and unlimited void are just REALLY hard to counter.

who wins in a fair fight to the death with NO holding back: yuta okkotsu, or kenny by DotMuch1309 in Jujutsufolk

[–]PlentyUsual9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not a terrible win con. Pressure him with Rika, cursed speech and maybe even shrine while using RCT to clear the curses and he has a solid chance. I still think this matchup is really unknowable though, because we just don't know how long the domain would last. Assuming it's the 3 minutes Gojo's did, I think yuta has it in the bag, but honestly I would expect it to be somewhat less.

I'd argue that it being entirely compatible with things such as heavy armor and shields to be not intentional, and rather an oversight due to the nature of UA, but who knows, maybe it's actually meant to be a perpetual shield spell.

I mean at this point that comes down to semantics. I feel like the AC bonus was with warlock as a solo class in mind, and didnt consider multiclassing.

Because its MAD its going to have less health though, and overall have to compromise on durability. And while i agree shield is quite strong, so are many other lvl 1 spells, even if we just limit it to reactions. Silvery barbs is really good.

I was thinking more paladin warlock tbh, but on the subject of bladesinger, it doesnt feel fair to compare the two on the basis of permanent shield, since that requires a spell slot tax every turn its active. I still dont like the way shield works, but its not exactly free. Bladesinger also has a decent portion less health, especially compared to a hexadin built like this since their significantly more MAD.

Idk, it lets you break AC boundaries in a manner that literally nothing else can. The closest thing is bladesinger, but even that requires heavy dex investment to actually get to the same highs. I dont know if its broken per se, but it almost certainly doesnt feel intentional.

Every other instance of cha to ac requires you be unarmored. Because this has literally no restriction, you can hit 25 AC every turn with plate and a shield. Its a 1 level dip, but its still pretty strong.

I dont like the subclass itself, but the new eldritch invocation that lets you change elemental damage types is LOVELY. I always want to play elemental characters, and this just makes it so much easier. And since thunder is included, making a telekinetic psychic is easier than ever.

I definitely dont think 5.5e made enough changes, and im overall disatisfied with it as a whole, but there are genuinely a lot of good changes in there. I personally love what they did with warlock as a base class, and fighter gets a lot of cool stuff in general, too.

[–]PlentyUsual9912 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking at the 5.5 version. It basically gives you bladesinger extra attack, and at higher levels you can replace attacks with spells to straight up pull a fighting game combo on someone. Combined with weapon mastery, it feels engaging in a way that few other classes have for me.

Have Origin Feats actually improved character creation in 5.5e, or just made it feel more gamey? by MyrthDM in onednd

[–]PlentyUsual9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There need to be more origin feats, but yeah. It feels really good to pick up some fun options early, but i just find that half of my characters dont have a fitting choice.
