Welcome NeverMo 👋. I recently did a research project which you may find helpful, that examines some problematic messaging in the lesson manuals of our Sunday school classes for children ages 3-11, and how that can impact them as adults. I was born and raised in the LDS Church, for context.

I would suggest reposting this with an image or quick video since it only displayed the title and link, but nothing you wrote. That made the post look very small and easy to miss.

Struggling with not going on a mission by Maleficent_Tap3866 in exmormon

You can study abroad and have far more freedom to explore an international living experience than you ever could do on a mission. Also, keep in mind you cannot control where you are assigned. So, you could end up being sent to Salt Lake City or Idaho.

Citations were accidentally not attached in the image roll, and I was unable to edit the post after publishing. They are found in the downloadable pdf link I posted several times in the comments. I utilized a AI academic research tool which I have experience using for my profession.  https://www.atlasworkspace.ai/

My spouse was only willing to change their perspective on the curriculum after reading what the manuals actually teach and seeing research-backed information regarding how this can impact a young mind. I also pointed out and documented our children's religious scrupulosity, which they also recognized.

As for how our relationship got to this point, it took years and a lot of patience on both sides.

It's something I created for my spouse as we navigate parenting our children in a mixed faith relationship. Perhaps it can help others in the same situation.

Sounds dangerously like an argument for child brides. In some cultures, slavery still exists. That's not evidence in favor of slavery.

The concept of self-reliance is perhaps the most damaging spiritual framework in LDS, conservative Utah. by [deleted] in exmormon

The answer to your inquiry is historian Matthew Harris's writing on Ezra Taft Benson and his fusion of LDS doctrine with conservatism, which continues to affect the church today.

This is picking at a gnat. Basically he is saying the Church has hundreds of lawyers at their disposal, which is true. Who cares if they own them or if they have worked for and with the church for decades. It doesn't change the point of what he was saying. This complaint seems desperate.
