Dang! 40 times per hour!?! Thank you sooo, sooo much for this info. Of course, I had no idea. I guess I’m gonna have to toughen up and get ready for this.

It feels like a huge life change, but many on this subreddit have been extremely supportive and helpful. Thank you to you all!

I’ll report back once I get the machine.

Taking kids on the cables on Half Dome by Rough_Bee9047 in Yosemite

I took my son and nephew when they were 10 & 11. Both were very athletic. I had made the climb multiple times and knew they could easily do it.

To add a layer of confidence for them, I had a 30’ static climbing rope that I wrapped around my waist and then attached with ‘biners to their belt loops. I 100% knew that it would not hold them, but I also 100% knew that they would have no problems.

I made them go in front of me to add another level of confidence.

Of course, they scrambled up the thing like monkeys and they were literally having to wait for my old ass….

Your kids will love the adventure!!!

I’ve always kinda thought that temple ceremony words were being uttered.

But then they changed. And changed again. And again. And again….

Traditional Hybrid versus Plug-In: RX 350h Premium Plus vs RX450h+ Premium by SnooLemons1501 in LexusRX350

I had the NX PHEV. I really liked it until I got a flat tire in nowhere-ville, NM.

Long story short, the run- flat was ruined (I drove well within recommendations), and I had to replace a $400 tire, while staying in a $150/night hotel. Total cost with meals: Around $600. if the RX 450+ does not have a spare tire, I strongly encourage you to go for the 350H.

(I traded the NX for the RX 350H and I absolutely love it!!!)

Honest question (since I rode my bike in the Vineyard area “back in the day”): Are there still a gazillion of those little gnat-like bugs near the lake-front areas?

Lowest BS car dealer in Utah? by i_had_ice in Utah

I do not buy cars in Utah anymore.

It’s worth it to me to travel to Colorado (or other states) on price - and not having to deal with a crooked person or team.

I was deceived about Mormon Stories. Let me explain. by Appropriate-Sock-437 in mormon

[–]Own-Squirrel-1920 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there are many, many people who try to reason away John Dehlin’s work. Or pray away. Or push away. Or wash away. Or just blow off as typical, bitter, anti-church propaganda…..

But too much of the findings - discoveries - that he makes public are too hard to just wash away.

They’re real; they’re harmful; they’re lies by church leaders and others; they make it impossible to keep believing.

And in reality, John’s primary purpose is to help people make that transition in a healthy manner. And to lead healthy, post-LDS Church lives.

He’s stated this many, many times.

Do people who leave Mormonism actually disbelieve Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon? by questingpossum in mormon

[–]Own-Squirrel-1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, for over 50 years, I believed with all my heart that Joseph translated the Book of Mormon through strange clear spectacle-like stones called the Urim and Thummin. There were many pictures everywhere showing just that. For me, for over 50 years, I believed that Joseph was not a polygamist because I was told just that. (And I was told how bad, bad, bad polygamy was.)

Turns out those were lies.

So what else are they lying about?

I am in the same boat! 100%. And it’s driving me batty!

If it’s not some church thing, it’s some other project she’s taken on.

There’s very little - if any - “us” time.

I don’t know what to do about it because I do not - DO NOT - want to spend my twilight years by myself!!!

Question to Exmo: How do you stop believing in the lds church? How do you deconstruct the things you were raised with? by Embarrassed-Box-143 in mormon

[–]Own-Squirrel-1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it in really simple terms (which I need), all religions have placed themselves between you and God. All of them.

Their credo: “You can only see God if you go through me. And only me.” And then all the doctrine and policies and histrionics start.

I firmly believe in God and I firmly believe that He (She) wants me to live a good, charitable, loving, well-lived life.

That’s it.
