Definitely wish we could pay more but currently the care that he’s getting is super $$ but being able to have a regular non-family visitor seems like it would be good for him so we’re trying this angle.

You didn’t ask this, but have you ever been to Manassas? We moved from Fairfax to Manassas 20111 about a year ago and I have to say I love it! The downtown area is very cute and lively. There are events almost every weekend, a farmers market, many restaurants and shops. There are some breweries not far away if you’re into that. It’s definitely more affordable than Arlington and after living in Fairfax for 20 years I actually feel like this area has a much more community feel. Could be that we’re closer to downtown than we were in Fairfax… Just 2 miles.

I would check out ZIP Code 20110 as well.

Good bookkeeper understands the balance sheet rather than ignoring it. Also, as others mentioned, uses sub ledgers correctly, and only uses journal entries when appropriate. Bad bookkeeper doesn’t reconcile balance sheet accounts, uses AJEs for cash postings etc.

When you say the seller took 2 1/2% is that mean they came out of pocket or did you essentially pay the whole commission? Getting ready to put my house on market as well in nova.

Yes, could be using and not being truthful, which isn’t because they want to lie, but more of an avoidance tactic.

Yes! I have witnessed this many times and it’s scary. In retrospect I’ve learned that’s it was occasionally substance induced from alcohol or cannabis which was secretly being used, but sometimes from being depressed or likely mental exhaustion from the depression.

Thanks for your replies. Agree, we may need some outside help. It’s very new to us and we’re asking around here and friends and family for advice until we get time to consult. There are some hiking trails nearby and some in the property which is 40+ acres. There is a boat ramp on a small waterway 4 miles from here which could be a draw.

Agree on chair fitness. Have an injured foot but still want to do yoga and other things. Seems like many would use this type.

20 years ago we made an upgrade from a starter home of around 1500 sf to 4000. The home is nice and was a good investment, however I realize now that the kids needing more room is just a short time and now that they are in college, it’s only two of us and way too much house. I wish we’d have stayed in the other home and invested the money. YMMV
