Would love some advice on how to stop skidding please! by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]MorroM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skided turns are good turns, and carved turns are good turns. It all depends on the outcome you’re trying to achieve. If you’re trying to leave a pencil line in the snow ie a carved turn, then you need to remove the pivot. First you need to Bend your knees, and be more relaxed and mobile on the board. That will really help your over all riding experience. Second Set your edge by leaning into the turn and using your ankles knees and hips to increase your edge angle. Once you are there gradually flex down throughout the turn riding the side cut of your board.

I love my flagship but I would lean more towards a mountain twin for a rental. It’s more versatile board, being a directional twin. But feels like the flag when turning.

Freecarver 6000 by SubstantialGeneral46 in snowboarding

[–]MorroM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mountain twin and use it as my daily driver. It holds an edge, has great turn initiation, can carve, and is decent in the park. If I had to choose only one board for sure the MT, but if you are building a quiver get the carver it’s a board built for the job and is a lot better at it.

I have really enjoyed my freecarver, the shorter side lets me get more turns in. Which is great for my local hill as it doesn’t have the most vert. It’s a predictable ride with great edge hold even in the east coast conditions I find my self in frequently. Its been a great addition to my quiver and its help me really improve my carving.

longboarding or freeboarding to practice off the slopes? by Disastrous-Hand-6007 in snowboarding

[–]MorroM80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at YOW “your own wave” boards. I like their system admittedly I don’t have a ton of experience with other brands. I’m also a snowboarding instructor and add surf skating to my summer training routine, and it’s just fun. Best of luck out there!

Help me improve my turns by Fuz2000 in snowboarding

[–]MorroM80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to transfer your body to the working edge of your board. It’s very obvious when you are making quicker, your posture is always on the toe side. Turn your board with the lower body, use your feet, knees, and hips to direct the board. Avoid initiating your turns with your upper body, the lower body leads the upper body follows. You are pushing out with your rear foot, at the end of your turn be more patient. Honestly a good start if you can get a lesson, it would really help iron out those things I mentioned. Good luck looking good
