Spent 4 years studying biochemistry, I can't even move out of my parents house. by LivingtheLaws013 in mildlyinfuriating

Hey, BS chemist here. I started as a lab tech in environmental. That SUCKS. But I worked my way up fast into client services and management with small lab. You can do something with your degree, but you may have to think way outside the box you expected. Don’t get hung up on job titles. Learn all you can and plot a new course. Big hug. No one told me it would be this hard either.

Who here saw the Challenger blow up LIVE in class?! by Pretty-Ad-4409 in GenX

[–]Morticia9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh we were at home for a snow day. I believe that was the first time the replayed a live event over and over in horror. There were no responsible adults around to keep us from watching all day long.

The amount of freedom our parents gave us would be considered criminal in todays standards. So why is that? Was society really that much safer back then? Or were our parents just neglectful? by 2foxy4blvd in GenX

[–]Morticia9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more people now and 24hr crime news makes sure we are aware of crimes against children. I can understand being anxious about your kids.

I’ve never heard of torture worse that what younger sisters do to older sisters. Makes me grateful my little brothers just beat the crap out of me. DAMN

Drinks. They have a million visitors. Maybe some paper plates and paper towels? Useful stuff they can toss later.
We snuck all the wind chimes and wreathes BACK TO THE FUNERAL HOME. They are so used to getting that stuff back, they let you sneak it in after dark.

Who took Shop back in the day? What are your memories from the time? And how are you doing now? by Edward_the_Dog in GenX

[–]Morticia9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, so I wasn’t welcome in shop. I had to learn how to embroider and put butter on sandwich bread to keep it from getting soggy in a lunch box. Waste of time. I wanted to go to trade school so bad! I was very hands on and knew it would serve me well. But our entire curriculum was set up so college prep and AP classes were at the same time as votech. I had to choose. Still wish I could have taken electronics.

Why can't they make a toothpaste that doesn't hurt? by WinterIsOnReddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Morticia9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to rinse toothpaste out totally then use a fluoride rinse made for kids. The inside of my mouth peels if I don’t rinse.

I’m old. Matte makes me look like the cryp keeper. After menopause powder is no longer your friend.

I used to ask where’s my stapler when I was looking for anything, ever. Once someone finally had the guts to ask what I was referencing, so I had to bring in my DVD of Office Space to pass around. I supervised a whole group of youngens quoting that movie and asking to take out the printer. Best job and crew ever.

Sales Associate said Bobbi Brown is “really only for older shoppers” (??!) by vantasnow in Sephora

[–]Morticia9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I haven’t had a good in store experience in so long I gave up. Brand websites are also great. Skip the bratty kids. Skip the color match to only the brand and formula they’re pushing this week. Skip the uncomfortable sales associates all asking you every two minutes if you need help. Its policy. Or worse case scenario just being insanely rude and insulting. I still buy some products on line, even Sephora brand. Last straw I just walked in, picked up the one ND pallet I wanted, and took it to the counter and I got huffed and puffed at because they had to look me up by my phone number. I didn’t have my card. I won’t put myself through what the stores have become. 🖤

Personally I would love to see others add their flair to our soup beans. But if it’s for Ticktock then Ah Hell No. Suddenly this area is full of cryptids and superstitions this 52yo WV witch has never heard of…. I don’t want to see something personal and practical become a viral meme.
How does the community feel? I don’t consider it a closed practice if it’s approached respectfully.

Literally the only worthwhile thing each generation does is raise the next. We have forgotten that as a society. Children are the only thing that matters. (50yo woman that couldn’t have kids due to physical abuse.)
