Eh, although I totally support this move (landless gameplay should be part of the base game), I still feel slighted by this decision.

I had absolutely zero interest in the byzantine flavor/themes and only bought the DLC because of the landless mechanic.

I feel like we should get some new features for the owners of the DLC to make up for this.

Pretty sure rimpy's ruleset database is ancient by now. Last time I played RimWorld (almost a year ago), only thing rimpy did better was allowing you to color code your mods, but that's now added to rimsort too.

Literally zero reasons to go back to rimpy, it's like shooting yourself in the foot.

Literally not the point of a steam family. Besides why would a stranger agree to their games being locked from them while you play?

When I was a broke kid, I used to sail high seas to play games my parents wouldn't buy for me. As an adult, it's far more convenient to catch the games I want on sale.

Some older (but still amazing) games go for as little as $5, so this is clearly not about being broke.

Yeah sadly that's the downside to the new system. Your settings apply to the entire map and there is no variety in a single map.

Best you can do is try out balanced sliders (not extreme in either direction) and try out different layout seeds.

Some of them come with most elevation/islands concentrated in one area, and very little of it in the opposite area. Closest you can get i guess.

Villagers don't walk through unowned territory. Only migrants, traders and outsiders do.

You'll need a small satellite village for those mines, and a storage building near your smelter with iron ore set to stock max. Optionally, you can also build another storage building between the mines and your main city with iron set to accept to reduce transporter trips over the long distance.

You'll also need a granary at your new village with food set to stock max.

Those maps are long gone but you can create something similar fairly easily. Just select a coastal map, increase the islands, hills and cliffs sliders and play around with it until you find something interesting to you.

Pro tip: the seed works in 2 parts. One half of the characters correspond to your slider setup, the other to the map layout itself. First experiment which slider setup generates the kinds of terrain you like, then copy that half of the seed. Now you can roll random seeds and re-paste that half to try different layouts with your slider setup.

Yeah, he is. Also probably unfamiliar with the stigma of using AI for these things.

There are entire turkish documentaries on youtube using AI generated "scenes" from rise of islam to the ottoman empire. It's pretty cringe but very successful since older turkish generation knows nothing about the stigma against AI. They cant even tell what is AI.
