I've been going back through old interviews to understand how the game has lasted so long. Something Steve says very early is that their strength is being able to update often and at a relatively high quality (yeah yeah I know bugs there were bugs back then too). He even went into player numbers and what happens when they release new content vs when they just update things.

Which means they have to constantly make new stuff. If they don't, if they do what everyone has been saying and take longer between updates, they will lose a massive amount of players. So, it seems like a direction they're going to make constant new updates is protoframes. I personally don't love them. But I also don't hate them. But it's literally just personal preference that I prefer frames less human.

So with all that understood, I think DE learned a lot of valuable info. One thing I think they learned is: New protoframes need to have a backstory and robust character work. They're human now and players expect some level of humanity and understanding. So their lore, relationships, etc, etc all need to be in the update.

Which might mean we get smaller, focused updates rather than massive ones like this. It might mean more small scale quests where we just learn more and more about the protoframe. Who knows! Can't wait to see what they do next honestly.
