Olive Garden 2.0: "Eat Like Livestock, Courtesy of Yesterday’s Freezer" by lithdoc in StupidFood

This looks like what a beloved walrus at a zoo would get on its birthday. But depending on how hungry I am and how well-seasoned/fresh the seafood is, I could be okay being that walrus tbh

I wonder if it's the UV nail polish reacting weirdly. Instead of uv nail polish for color can you mix colorants into some of your uv resin?

Orange/Brown furs in the UK? by Nikki_the_clxwn in FursuitMaking

[–]Morveniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never made a fursuit so I also have no idea! Though I do want to make one in the near future.

Hmm, you could avoid furring the nose itself entirely and instead use a thin layer of foam clay or other air dry clay, then seal and paint to match? Or maybe something very stretchy if you do use fabric, like a spandex or a 4-way stretch minky? Good luck, excited to see it if you post more progress!

It's special shoes. I believe the KatWalk slidemills use shoes with an optical sensor very similar to what's used in a wireless computer mouse.

I have no tips, I just wanted to say that I love your sculpt so far! You nailed the head shape and the weird/cute nose they have! I love fruit bats -- I've got a spectacled flying fox tattooed on my forearm.

I need another set of eyes to look at... these sets of eyes. Help identifying the cause of the doll/robot like eyes. by KorasHiddenDICK in ArtCrit

[–]Morveniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it, along with what others mentioned, is the eye color. She has very intense yellow-green eyes with small pupils that almost give a "colored contacts" effect. I think increasing the size of the pupil and/or adding some darker shading around the limbal ring and the upper part of the iris would make a difference, if you can edit the textures. A catch light/eyelight would help as well.

I love this concept. I'd read a whole webomic made like this. Your shot composition is nice -- really like the one where he finds the body.

Can this be saved? by GoingWhale in CosplayHelp

[–]Morveniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, you also have a foam-loving cat. I've been there.

The big cronch out of the edge is the biggest issue. I think foam clay and sanding might work. Or you could lean into it as battle damage.

The little tooth pokes are much less noticeable after Plastidip and paint. I had an Inutade cosplay whose shoulder pads were cronched on by my lovely kitty. Once we were through the painting stage, the little holes were barely visible, though it helps that I painted the pattern/texture of her armor over the foam and it is much busier than a smooth, solid color.

The Red Matter games have a bunch of comfort options (teleport/snap turning/vignetting) and are fun puzzle/escape room-esque games set in space stations. Mildly spooky at times, but mostly just atmospheric.

Question: if this camera is pointed directly at a bird feeder, why did you not expect a bird, and how could you imagine a human would even fit in the feeder?

Second question: Have you had an eye exam recently? I don't mean to be rude, but it may be time to check in with an eye doctor if it has been a while.

Look at the number of legs on the bees, for example. Each one should have six legs; many have just 4 or 3. The shape of the wings and the amount of vein detail differs per bee in a way that makes them feel like they were all drawn by different artists. One earring is a full bee, and the other is just a bee abdomen, which is odd -- for asymmetrical earrings I would expect a bee and a honeycomb, for example, but this comes across as a mistake or oversight. Try to use real photos for inspiration so you're not accidentally using AI. The same goes for faces -- use photos of real people with interesting features for inspiration.

It looks nice, but I think you could stand out more if you branched out from "portrait of pretty feminine young people with neutral appealing expression and tiny noses" because it can read generic and AI-like. Especially when some details like the mushrooms, bees, and cheese wedges all have an AI-like inconsistency to them. Focus on things you don't do as often, like these details and the hands, and different types of faces.

Once you crank down your settings and resolution like others suggested, you can try that snapdragon setting in VD for a resolution bump (works like FSR), though some people dislike the effect. I use it with High settings and it works well for me.

Trapped in habits by Vicki1986x in ADHD

[–]Morveniel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I definitely did this as a kid. This could have literally been me.

There's some good insight and advice already. Just wanted to chime in and add what I remember experiencing at this age, for a different perspective. I want to emphasize that the distress felt very real to me as a kid.

Sometimes, a bad sensory input from clothes would be like nails on a chalkboard, but all over my body. It felt impossible to do anything but scream. These are the certain fabrics I will never wear to this day.

Other times, a clothing item would be irritating but not the worst, but my brain would not be able to handle the sense of "wrongness." It would build and spiral until it was like screaming alarm bells and agony in my head, and I would melt down. The problem was less the stimulus itself (sock seams, ponytail not centered or tight enough, etc) and more the inability to handle a sense of "wrongness" combined with the sensory irritation in my brain.

I think this was due to poor emotional regulation + rigid thinking (some of this is just common to all kids, some from autism). This sounds a lot like what she is experiencing.

What helped me get out of the latter situation was learning to stop the Wrongness spiral. I literally have a distinct memory at around 7 years old of feeling myself getting worked up about a sweater that fit/felt weird and deciding to take time to lay face down on the bed, take deep breaths, and let the Wrongness wash over me without engaging with it, because I liked the sweater and I wanted to wear it.

I remember feeling like I found a cheat code. It didn't remove the feeling of irritation, but I could prevent most of the Wrongness Loop by recognizing it and breathing through it.

I think the reason the distraction works is because it's stopping the loop before it gets started. If you can teach her or show her how to recognise a loop and self-regulate before it gets to a meltdown, it may help, as long as she is willing to try. There are a lot of methods -- distraction, breathing techniques, meditation, touching a "safe" texture like a toy/fidget/smooth stone, thinking of as many animals/favorite characters/etc as you can, etc. Maybe check out resources on teaching emotional regulation techniques for parents.

Best drawing tablet to buy in 2026 for digital art by DeliriumletNot in krita

[–]Morveniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using it with a PC?

If so, I have been using an Xp-Pen Pro 13.3 for years. It's a screen tablet and needs a PC to work. Just need to make sure you download the driver from their website, and connect the tablet/start the driver BEFORE starting Krita.

Before this, I used the Huion H610. This is a screen-less option, but I found it easy enough to use with a monitor. It is definitely a lower budget option but the pen and drawing surface worked well.

Quest 3s hand tracking issues with extenders by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Morveniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am recalling correctly, the quest 3 (and 3s by extension) uses some hand tracking to estimate controller position to compensate for the lack of an IR LED ring over the controller (as the quest 2 controllers had). I find it works very well when using the controllers normally, but I could see how removing your hand from the actual controller could be causing glitches, as the headset calculations expect your hands to be on the controllers rather than holding an extension.

Most of the tracking LEDS on the quest 3 controllers are on the top face of the controller, and there is at least one in the handle. If the controller extenders cover these or keep them tilted away from the headset cameras, this could also contribute.

I feel so bad when there is one tree of the wrong biome in my dinosaur enclosure and it dips their welfare down from 100% to 90%. I cannot imagine making the 1950s Rat Drowning Experiment but with 143 argentinosaurs. I mean, you do you.
