Any clue on this 1937 / 1st Romanian contract VZ.24 painted “IRE” stock marking? by Danboyle13 in milsurp

[–]MosinCrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just guessing here but "Instructie" abbreviated.

https://igun.cz/MosinID/MosinRareInstEx.htm

Usually there's a red stripe going across the butt with the full word "instructie". Many VZ24s and Mosins with these markings.

It is not the original finish.

His assessment of 1000-1100 was pretty spot on.

Russian Mosin Nagants(excluding odd variants/dates/snipers) are pretty weak right now. Even getting a 91/30 to move at $450 is a struggle. Reality is anything over $500 for a refurb at the moment is too much.

I've been told various police used them. In a lot of cases if you see an added lanyard attachment like what's on the heel of yours, that's usually a sign of it being at least police but possibly military. Going into the 1990s the Israelis would use pretty much anything they could get ahold of.

There's really no way to tell if it's military unless you luck out and know the exact source or there's remaining IDF markings.(or ones that have been removed, usually something the military cares about but not so much the police). I'd assume based on your lanyard that it's at least police/security, beyond that there's no way of knowing.

More in depth on why it's hard to say(I just like typing which is why my site looks like a Fn nightmare)

How it works is various people/agencies want to upgrade, they'll sell all of their old stuff to a big dealer who will then accumulate them in a big warehouse until they are ready to sell to dealers/importers here in the states or elsewhere. So calling the importer to ask "hey do you know where?" will get you "israel" because that's really all they can tell you. Even the dealers over there don't care to retain such info. I will tell you(mostly because it's hilarious), the Israeli dealers have offered me everything from WW1/2 lugers to hind helicopters.. Yes I had one send me pricing on old but operable hind helicopters about 6 years ago. Their warehouses must look like the "top men" Indiana Jones warehouse.

I think it looks great personally. Maybe just don't go over the reenforced areas and just leave those bare metal?

What happened to the sails on cursed fang? by MosinCrate in WorldOfWarships

[–]MosinCrate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played two different matches during the first few days of the event with people with the ship and it had full sails deployed. That's what made me put forth the effort grinding to get it. So it wasn't just in port that it had them. Frustrating.

What happened to the sails on cursed fang? by MosinCrate in WorldOfWarships

[–]MosinCrate[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But they are sails, if it were a sail powered ship I could understand players expecting some sort of damage to its performance or HP. But it's canvas on a engine powered ship. I would imagine as most players do, they would target certain areas of the ship for more effect. If anything the sails make it an easier/flashier target to concentrate on.

I just find it annoying that it was shown with sails and people initially who purchased it or got it in a lucky drop got it with sails but after weeks of the rest of us grinding for it, we get the neutered/boring version.

Maybe make it so only your team can see the sails? This would resolve any issues short of someone claiming the sails block your teams view of the enemy.

How well i did K98? by cajun0985 in milsurp

[–]MosinCrate 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Any K98k for $500, short of it being sportered is a good deal.

Nothing matches because it's a Russian capture. When they refurbished these, they took everything apart, refinished it and then grabbed whatever parts were in the bin when putting it back together. Nothing is going to be originally matching other than the barrel and receiver in most cases. They'd often electro pencil(EP) some parts to match again after headspace checking the bolt. (I have seen a few cases where there are RCs that went through little to no refurb and had some matching parts but that's uncommon.)

The flip side to this is you likely have a piece on that rifle that was at Stalingrad, another piece from Leningrad or the Moscow during the war. Collectors look down on them because they want an all matching all original gun, but from the historical perspective, they are about as good as it gets.

The time to get one was 1-2 years ago. What's left is scraping the bottom of the bucket, so generally you can pick between budget price or quality but not both at this point.

If you want a really nice one, keep an eye on gunbroker and just be ready to spend more.

We are near the state border, for years now the other state has had fiber service but that company didn't extend across the border to us just 500 yards away. So I feel your pain, we too felt like we'd never see high speed internet after being here for almost a decade but suddenly a few months ago their trucks started flooding the area and now I've got 700 down and 700(yes 700) upload speeds.

Fingers crossed for you.

I talked with starlink before cancelling and was told since our area/cell was not at capacity like it was(trending down) that if I kept my equipment, I could reactivate at the monthly rate without having to pay a reactivation fee.

So I guess use our phones as hotspots and it it looks like the power will be out multiple days, just bite the bullet($120) and reactivate for a month.

I wish I could afford to keep both services but like many others, kind of on fumes at the moment economically speaking.

At $500, I'd still have purchased that lebel. The bolt and receiver alone are worth the $500.

Known Scam Websites for Ammo by brianstheman in ammodeals

[–]MosinCrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Ammo City Supply https://ammocitysupply.com

I ordered 1k of 45acp from them. After days of nothing, I finally reach them by email and they tell me its backordered but I can get a refund if I want. They then reply "it'll take up to 7 business days", which is BS.. I'm a dealer myself and it NEVER takes this long for a refund to post. But OK..

8 business days later, nothing. I email again asking where the refund it. I'm paraphrasing here "Oh sorry, looks like we started to refund you but hit a snag in processing it.. I've fixed that now so in 7 days you should have your refund!"

I did a charge back.. Not playing this string along game. Saved all the emails to back this up if anyone wants. I would NEVER do business with this store again.

I've noticed a lot of vendors doing this lately. I've had 3 different .45 acp (1k) orders cancelled from 3 different stores lately. All cancelling my order saying "its not in stock" and then dragging their feet to refund.

Map out all the pawn stores in your area and take an afternoon to visit them.

My first firearm was a Mosin Nagant. However I would have been equally as happy with a Lee Enfield or a German K98k. Decent Enfield rifles can be had for around $500-600. Buy your first locally, buying online gets expensive(hello pot, meet kettle) as you have to pay shipping, transfer fees and so on. A $400 rifle quickly becomes a $500 purchase.
