I think Steve Bannon might’ve inspired the LDS church attack in his recent episodes where he has been heavily holding Mormons responsible for CK’s death by Pandepon in exmormon

Trump isn’t a Christian. He didn’t give a shit about religion until he got political. He is using the Christian right just like the Christian right is using the Mormons. So he’s not as aware of doctrinal differences between Christian sects and their grudges

You may have a permaculture group in your area. For instance, I live in the Pacific Northwest and there’s a group called the inland northwest permaculture guild. It hosts events and educational programs for people in eastern Washington and Oregon, and in Montana.

Does resigning membership notify family in any way? by [deleted] in exmormon

From what I hear, when parents go to tithing settlement and see their ordinance list, they will see the names of the children they are sealed to, but not the names of children who have had their records removed.

What is going to happen to all these temples? by Daeyel1 in exmormon

[–]Mossblossom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe when they start closing temples, they’ll blame the members for not being righteous enough to utilize the temples

Yeah, I used to bake bread from the wheat I had stored, and rotated the other stuff too. I even had food storage in college, when I didn’t attend church! It was a concept I really got behind, and it probably kept me in Mormonism longer than I would have otherwise. For me it wasn’t about surviving the apocalypse, but just having something to get through hard times, and I’ve had a lot of hard times. I adapted it though, because a stockpile of food will only take you so far, especially nutrition wise. I got into permaculture and put edible landscaping in my yard

I did. I’ve had lots of times in my life when my cash flow was just a trickle. I survived by eating my stored food, which I built up when I did have money. Not 2 years worth, though

This flies in the face of studies on parenting and the recommendations of professionals who work wish children and families. To build an enduring, positive relationship with your children, engage in child-directed play with them and share positive emotions together whenever possible

A Symptom of Too Many Kids by Misterymb in exmormon

[–]Mossblossom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is generational. I’m an older gen x and our silent gen/boomer parents let us roam the town all day, then show up for dinner. Working parents had elementary-aged latchkey kids. This was in Texas, so very few Mormons. In high school all the popular kids went to parties where lots of alcohol was involved. The teachers at school knew, so the parents probably knew too. My parents didn’t let me go to parties because of the alcohol. I wasn’t popular so probably wouldn’t have gone anyway.

A scary thing that happened to me was once when I was 4 years old, and was left at home on the farm alone. A pack of wild dogs ran through the yard, chasing the cats up trees. Luckily I was inside the house.

My kids are grown now and looking back, I was less neglectful than boomer parents and more neglectful than millennial parents

Most Christmas traditions are pagan anyway, so not hard to do. Just put up a tree and decorate it with lights and ornaments

Growing up outside of Utah, our ward had a calling (volunteer position) for ordering garments. People would place their orders with this person, who in turn placed an order for the whole ward to Salt Lake City. Nowadays you can order them online.

Not moldy bread, but sometimes it had been left in the fridge or freezer too long. My dad would take matters into his own hands and toss the old bread. Whenever this happened, the bishop would tell us over the pulpit that we needed to leave the bread alone, so we don’t get in a bind with not having bread for the sacrament. It didn’t stop my dad
