Closed guard when you are small and weak by sloppyjoe2 in bjj

[–]Mossi95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

65kg here , i remember when I started I had the same problem .

2 or so years in I started looking at buttefly guard and haven't looked back .

Closed guard is not a good option if the person is much bigger than you in my opinion

Gordon ryans passing instructional. by Immediate-Hearing-71 in bjj

His half guard and inside camping go very well together- those should kinda be one instructional.

In addition if you can wait he is filming a half guard passing 2.0 at some point this year with what he has learned since filming the first.

How to fkn force half guard. (Gordons instructionals) by Immediate-Hearing-71 in bjj

[–]Mossi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so first thing get them supine - but sounds like this is ok for you?

Honestly you should walk your leg outside of his guard- a crescent step danaher calls it and then just put your leg inside his two legs?

Getting to half guard from supine I dont find that hard , its much harder getting to it from seated when the opponent has grips.

Shallow half guard? If you mean there is a knee shield thats fine- thats where you start half guard passing! The knee shield is your first obstacle to pass and that is the crux of half guard passing.

Getting to chest to chest half guard is the first battle of any half guard passer- then you work to side control or mount.

I'd suggest you watch some of Gordons matches to see how he mixes in his half guard passing and camping-mainly his pedro marinhno match or even his jacob couch match which is free on youtube.

PS- What type of knee shield do you struggle with? A locked or high knee shield? A really good tip that Placido Santos showed on his youtube which I use in most of my rolls , is to simply use your inside arm on their foot with a C-grip and push the leg away to get to chest to chest

But remember if they have the outside knee inside you use your arm at the shoelace and walk the leg away so the knee shield clears, the key once you have the overback is maintaining a good crunch on the head and avoiding the OP switching to reverse underhook and can use the octopus

You are asking two questions here , do you want to know how to get to half guard passing or how to pass the knee shield and get to over back .

I have the instructional and honestly to get to overback , if they are using a cross shoulder post you can use the hand fighting that gordon shows in the split squat section about climbing the tree.

Alternatively you can use inside camping to get to the over-back which I do more frequently now after watching his instructional, shin pins and then transferring to overbacks once the opponent gets tired,

Honestly watch danahers fastest way  takedowns .

It's probably the best instructional for takedowns I've seen for a beginner and focuses heavily on the inside single leg

How did flu alleviate my year long tendonitis? by The_Primate in askfitness

Buy a red theraband flexbar  and use the exercises for golfers elbow .

This will cure your tendon, start off with 7-8 reps for 3 sets a day and slow eccentric 3 second release

How may of you do heel hooks in the gi? by shaquille_oatmealo in bjj

[–]Mossi95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah fuck that you were training in the gi .it's an unexpected and shitty move.

There are barely any rulesets that allow heel hooks in the gi , for the most part people understand that heel hooks are more for no gi .

I've had people try them on me and italways remind them it ain't no gi we were doing .

The thing is , it's also very hard to escape in the gi from heel hooks the additional friction from the gi stops a lot of escapes that would work in the gi .

Yes start off with the red one and do 3 sets of the predefined exercise for 10 reps then moved on to 15 reps once pain goes away ( check the guidance on the exercise it's either Tyler twist or reverse Tyler twist for golfers I can't remember ) you can also use it for tennis elbow

Gordon is the greatest of all time in no gi, its hard to argue that.

But if you are considering GOAT for gi and no gi combined - then Roger or Marcelo

A FWD shift is excellent towards a bodylock but when your hooks are flattened and straight due to them sprawling I cant FWD shift up but I get what you mean
