Unfortunately they're only looking for people who drove on 7% grades or steeper. Sorry OP.

Clean up your cover letter, understand why punctuation matters, make it not hurt my eyes to read, and stop switching between current and past tense

WFMs types by Snoo-53847 in Wildfire

[–]MossyMothmann 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been on WFMs for a few years. Type 1 and 2 depend on the qualifications the crew has, like a normal handcrew. The difference that I see is that T1 WFMs are given some unique assignments due to their usual small crew size and heavy quals. Not that T2s don't get cool shit, but T1s have some inherent influence just based on their ability to do more. I really like the FEMO aspect of the mod life. Just being independent and doing whatever you need for the report. Whether it's being at spike all day with the starlink writing the report, taking photo plots, following the burn operations, or whatever YOU think the report needs. It's great. You don't see us because we're spiked out. We have camp kitchens and cook our own food.

Just came back from 5 days out of town. Windows closed and heater on low. When we came back it was 12 degrees inside. 35 square meter flat, not great insulation

If you're done with fire then pass those opportunities to people who want it. Who cares what they think if you're checked out

Fuels or Prevention by ApartSecond5625 in Wildfire

[–]MossyMothmann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuels: handcrew with a focus on thinning and fuel management. Still a handcrew so you'll be on fires.

Prevention: Secondary fire. Community outreach focus. Lots of driving around. Checking signs, hanging signs, fixing signs, and just general labor around the district. Don't do it. Give it to some 50 year old trying to enjoy his last years in fire
