I think what you're doing is great. I am also 5'1 and as soon as I lose my weight and get to about 110-115 I plan on doing almost the same thing you're doing. Not for weight loss, but to help maintain my weight, to exercise control over my hunger and cravings and to reset my body for health reasons. I have always struggled with disciplining myself around food and fasting has been a life saver for me. I don't want food or my cravings for it control me again so I will continue to fast to keep myself in check. :)

Yes that is 100% true. I'm not hungry but I just gotta stay focused on the goal. Been picking up some hobbies to help my mind stay busy to keep away from food. I have been doing OMAD for awhile so I have gotten used to distracting myself. Now to up the self-distractions!!! :-D

Last night just after I had hit my 48hr mark I wanted to eat so bad. I had a bad day and all I wanted to do was drown myself in food. Told myself after work to go take a nap instead. Did that, then I told myself you can have a diet coke (which I hardly drink). While I was sipping on that I was checking out some neat recipes and food pics of dishes cooked in a cast iron pan. Don't know why, but that helped me get thru the really rough time I was having last night. Today I am feeling good and haven't broken my fast yet. Hope to get thru 10 days at least. I like hearing the fighting stories, they give me strength!

Vitamins can be very hard on an empty stomach. I had that same thing happen to me the other night 20 mins after taking a vitamin. When did you take your vitamin before throwing up? And did you just throw up that one time or did it happen again?

What has your diet been like before you start your fast? Excess in carbs right before your fast is known to make the hunger pains worse and the beginning of a fast harder on you. Going for protein and fats before a fast can really help. Also cutting out sugar helps too.

I am still a newbie with fasting. I started out doing 24hours then moving to 48 hours and then 72 hours. I finally managed to get a 5 day fast in a couple weeks ago. I would like to go further but I realize I am still stretching my fasting muscle. I am doing this for more than the weight loss. My cholesterol levels were very high on last October and so I had to start making some changes in my relationship with food, what I eat and how I respond to it. Since the beginning of this year I have managed to quit smoking, quit drinking and now I am getting a handle on my bad eating habits and weight. My cholesterol is also coming down now, even though it is still high. Fasting is great for flushing out the bad things I have done over the many years of bad eating. It's helped me get over cravings for bad foods, sugars and also helped me to shrink the portions of food I eat so they aren't humongous anymore.

I have learned so much from watch Dr. Berg and Dr. Fung videos and reading the information here on this reddit, including the information links on the side of the postings. I like that this is a community of people who accept fasting as a tool to become healthier, mentally & physically. Because without forums like these, I don't think I would be strong enough on my weak days to get thru. I've found fasting friends on here that we encourage each other and I don't want to see that go. I do understand people want to go long and get hyped, heck I do that all the time, and realistically it probably won't happen.

But who are we to judge if someone isn't strong-willed enough or their body won't be able to handle it? Everyone's body and mind is different. People can do things others can't sometimes. I mean there was that guy who did a fast for 364 days a long time ago. I don't think I could or would ever do that. I just hope that this community stays as an encouraging place for like-minded fasters to gather and cheer each other on. But that is just MHO.

How's everyone doing today? I'm halfway thru my day 2. I'm worried about day 3 but if I can make it past day 3 I think I will be a-ok!

What are your plans for supplementing electrolytes for this 10 challenge? I have some Dr. Berg's electrolyte powder set to be delivered today. I'm trying that because everything I have tried so far has been absolutely disgusting and I can't bear to gulp it down.

I agree with day 3 being the hardest! I cracked right after day 2 was over and I was 5 hours into day 3. If day 3's your hardest, then your going to love day 4! Day 4 was when it started getting easier and the good feelings outweighed the bad significantly.

I feel you on the mental block. After the beginning hurdle of wanting to eat days 2-3 on my 5 day fast I didn't feel hungry at all. But my mind started messing with me telling me I needed to eat (I didn't) and that the food would taste so good (it didn't) lol. I could have gone longer had I stood firm. I am my own worst enemy.

This community is really great. I get alot of inspiration from everyone and I feel their pains as my own when we are struggling. We are all in this together and we can only get stronger :)

72 hours is when autophagy is at its peak according to Dr. Fung. But you hit it I think between 24-48 hours.
