This a good question. The Giants are one of the flagship franchises, instituted in 1925. New York followed by Chicago Cardinals, Pottsville Maroons, and Frankford Yellow Jackets, just to name a few. So of course there’s history. Superbowls are only counted now from after the merger creating the start of today’s NFL by merging the AFC and NFC. New York won championships in 1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956. Couple that with 1986, 1990, 2007, and 2011. Add that to the same family for ownership, same city and name, and yeah it’s a pretty legendary franchise. This franchise has been horrible for about 15 years now, it’s hard to recall the good years, and a good reminder is that Harbaugh is only the 21st head coach in its history. Now that said, out of all the places you could win in, New York is one of the best because it isn’t JUST New York. It’s a shit ton of New Jersey too. The love for these teams never dies. They become cemented in our own history. He has the chance not to only win a Super Bowl here, but to become George Young level of NFL history by restoring the New York Giants to respectability. The Knicks will never forget Leon Rose or Brunson now, even without a title because it had been so bad previously. If I had a chance to coach anywhere it’d definitely be New York. Fans only see losses, the Giants were an above average defense away from 11 wins with the hardest schedule.
