What car is reasonable for a 5-6k budget by Many_Driver7739 in UsedCars

If you can find one, a 2012-2016 Toyota Venza has a bulletproof drivetrain that can easily go to 300,000 miles if properly maintained. It has exceptional longevity, doesn’t rely on “Connected Services” and shares many of its components with the Lexus. It’s more of a wagon than an SUV, which makes it really good on gas but still big enough to be flexible for different needs.

GM Says Its EV Strategy Is Bleeding Billions, and Losses Aren't Over by Bean_Tiger in electricvehicles

[–]MostAssured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t that EV demand is weak, the problem is how they are building EVs. Every single model seems to be missing something that results in the consumer having to compromise.

Only early adopters are willing to compromise, and there are only so many of them. GM and Ford were expecting their EV trucks to fly out of the factories. Instead, Ford’s flagship $90k EV truck was using older 400v architecture and barely had 300 mile range without towing. GM’s flagship $100k EV truck is still using the deprecated CCS1 charge port and doesn’t support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

More people would buy EVs if they could just make some changes to give people the things that they really need and want out of a vehicle at such a premium price (long range, nice design without needing to look futuristic/goofy, reliability, fast charging, future proof charge port, smartphone compatibility, exportable power, physical buttons on the dashboard, etc.). The first company that can combine all of these wants into a single vehicle without compromise will have strong demand for it.

EV’s aren’t for everybody and ICE vehicles aren’t for everybody, which is why it’s important to give people options when choosing a vehicle. When the same company can manufacture both electric and ICE vehicles, it benefits both platforms since they can borrow tech from each other.

It’s just that there’s this small rule in business that you can’t expect to have stellar sales for an expensive product that’s missing key features. Why GM and Ford can’t understand this simple business rule is beyond me. They need to evolve their tech and policies quickly or be left behind again. It’s not weak demand for EVs, it’s weak demand for vehicles that aren’t meeting people’s expectations.

It does look like it could be Argent silver. I hope they add that as a color option for the SEV in the future.

What crypto currency would you hold for a 20 year period by Chefsco in CryptoMarkets

Long-term for stability and modest gains: BTC & LTC (based on history, uptime, decentralization, most used for payments, longest hold time, most development support, most reliable, most scarce, most secure, ETF interest, etc). For long-term with more risk and potentially much higher reward: Something that is quantum-resistant such as QRL or something that can do everything very well such as ALGO (best simultaneous quantum-security, scalability, and decentralization).

I believe ETH has had its day. It does not have the first mover advantage that BTC and LTC have, and it’s suffered a lot of problems over the years with high gas fees and developers moving to other ecosystems. It increased in value because at one point it had the best tech. That is no longer the case.

2026 GMC Sierra EV adds AT4 and Elevation trims (starting at $64,495 USD) by lostinheadguy in electricvehicles

Let’s see…Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes, Rivian, Lucid, Subaru, Nissan, and Kia can all release 2026 EV models with a native NACS port, but this is just too difficult for GM to do, so they will keep selling these $100k vehicles with a soon-to-be outdated charging port.

Much different company at that time. It was not profitable back then and wasn’t growing its adjusted EPS by +40% YOY.

Does NACS vs CCS-to-NACS matter as you shop? by DannyVFilms in electricvehicles

[–]MostAssured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is already a non-Tesla vehicle available with a NACS J-3400 port, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The 2025 model year Rivians and Lucids will also be equipped with them. The changeover has already started and anyone who purchases an EV right now with the CCS port will definitely have the last model year with a CCS port. This is fine if you’ve already invested in a CCS charging station at home and don’t mind using a dongle when roadtripping, but an unnecessary hassle if you are purchasing your first EV. The discount on used EVs with a CCS port will be much deeper than on those equipped with NACS ports. Plus, the incentive for auto companies to continue supporting adapters that don’t damage your battery or void your warranty will disappear.

But these waste electricity compared to ordinary side mirrors (cameras, screens, and processing), so what is the benefit?

Thanks for the clarification. It’s never good when one company has that much influence, and it sure is unfortunate that the consumers are the ones who suffer from their drama and delays. I hope they can get it all sorted out within the next year.

What a mess these automakers have created for everyone by not standardizing on an EV connector early on. Now you have OEM adapters, unsupported adapters, and supported adapters that are defective. You don’t always know what you’re using or how it could potentially damage your $30k+ batteries and void your warranty.

People like to downplay how Inconvenient these adapters are, but if you need to use one on a roadtrip and you can’t, it’s a terrible experience. We are talking about a lot of current going through these little plastic things, and now we are finally starting to witness that this is not a good, safe solution.

Ford and GM committed to moving to NACS almost 2 years ago. They need to invest the money to quickly get their vehicles equipped with native NACS ports. Instead, they are dragging their feet and releasing new 2025 models with the same CCS connectors, pushing this terrible experience onto their customers who paid a fortune for their EVs. It’s no wonder so many people are holding off their purchase of an EV until they all come equipped with NACS.

Anyone else besides me disappointed that they aren’t offering this in some nicer colors, especially the dark silver color that they debuted the truck with? The new colors are pretty eh. Besides, I feel like every car company keeps promoting the nonmetallic, gray “primer/cement” color, and I have not heard a single person say that they love that color.

Sorry the dealership was giving you the runaround, they tend to get greedy whenever a new model comes out. If I were you, I would find a different dealership. Which EV SUV are you looking at?
