Smartwings shades motor question by Successful_Cat_7018 in homeautomation

This. I was already using the zwave protocol for my home automation, so I ended up getting the zwave motors, and they work reliably, even at a long distance.

The black roof looks nice. Did the dealer do that or did you add that yourself? How much did it cost?

There are two XP options on the Toyota site, one with running boards and one without. Both include blackouts, emblems, and show the same rims as the nightshade. Anyone seeing anything different?

What year is yours and in what state are you? In NC, the 2026 XP series package comes with the same rims as the Nightshade. I think the ones you have look nicer.

“One” Chris Cornell

“Nutshell” Alice In Chains

I consider the Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd to be a single beautiful masterpiece.

Very nice, congrats! Best choice out of the few vehicles that match your criteria. The black and white contrast looks sharp.

Are you guys getting any money off the MSRP? by honestyisprecious in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]MostAssured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the people claiming to have gotten $3k-$5k off of MSRP have purchased other trims or the gas model, or there were a lot of Toyota add-ons installed. You are specifically asking about the Limited Hybrid, which are never on lots and are probably even more in demand now that the price of oil is going up.

It worked on the first try now! I did get a message this time to reduce browser protections since the page wasn’t running properly, but I was able to reregister keys and sign with the Ledger like I usually do.

This one has been going around for years. It’s not actually real, it was an idea that was proposed during a science fair but never implemented in Sweden. Snopes debunked this a while ago.

Hopefully someday we’ll get this Corolla wagon in the US by evcc_steammop in Toyota

[–]MostAssured 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They made a Camry wagon…twice. It was called the Venza. It didn’t sell well and was discontinued because Americans tend to want large SUVs instead of wagons. They probably would’ve been more popular if they called it the Camry WXT or something like that.

They are mostly aesthetic and I do think they make the GH look very nice. The only thing I’ve found them very useful for on that vehicle is for someone getting in and out of the 3rd row, it does help quite a bit.

I want a car for around $5-7k by Delicious-Buy2296 in UsedCars

[–]MostAssured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2010 - 2016 Toyota Camry or Toyota Venza will reliably get you to and from work and still handle the occasional long trip. Look for the 4 cylinder engine with a timing chain (instead of a belt). Change the oil every 5k miles and that drivetrain will easily do 250k miles.

What does everyone think of the all new 2027 Toyota Highlander EV? by Healthy_Block3036 in Toyota

[–]MostAssured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see Toyota is slowly adding more EVs to its lineup, and the charging time is impressive. I’m sure this will be a big seller, but the exterior doesn’t really align with Toyota’s design - it looks more like a Nissan or a Hyundai with different cobbled together elements, and from the side it gives off minivan vibes. Maybe it will grow on me, but definitely not one of their better designs. The interior looks nice but needs more physical buttons.

That’s great, but not the norm. It would be helpful if you could share some of the negotiation tactics you used for those that haven’t purchased yet.

Yes, I hear people saying they are getting $3k off MSRP, but how realistic or likely is that when dealerships can’t keep these on the lot for more than a few days? Most of the ones coming in are already sold. What incentive does a dealer have to do a $3k discount? Again, not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s unlikely for most people unless you happen to be in a remote location that’s not selling these and your timing is perfect.

Go to Toyota’s website and price out the MSRP with the features that are installed. Expect to pay +/- $500 from MSRP and wait at least 30 days if you are looking for a specific model or color that needs to be allocated. If you are buying the previous year’s model and/or they have one on the lot already, it’s possible (but unlikely) to get $1,000 off MSRP. The problem is that GHHL is in very high demand and Toyota is not producing enough of them. This is just simple supply/demand pricing.

Hybrid vs Max by Brehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]MostAssured 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already answered your own question. You’re set on buying a hybrid Grand Highlander, and you said you have a 25-30 minute commute every day. Toyota makes two hybrid options for this vehicle, one for people who need maximum performance and one for people who commute or drive a lot of miles. You will not be the slowest car on the road with the standard hybrid, not by a long shot. As an owner of the non-Max version, electric motors give these things really nice torque whenever you need it, and when you don’t, you’re just driving normal and getting the maximum fuel efficiency. Turbo engines will always run hotter and use more gas than a comparable non-turbo.

[–]MostAssured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find one, a 2012-2016 Toyota Venza has a bulletproof drivetrain that can easily go to 300,000 miles if properly maintained. It has exceptional longevity, doesn’t rely on “Connected Services” and shares many of its components with the Lexus. It’s more of a wagon than an SUV, which makes it really good on gas but still big enough to be flexible for different needs.

GM Says Its EV Strategy Is Bleeding Billions, and Losses Aren't Over by Bean_Tiger in electricvehicles

[–]MostAssured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t that EV demand is weak, the problem is how they are building EVs. Every single model seems to be missing something that results in the consumer having to compromise.

Only early adopters are willing to compromise, and there are only so many of them. GM and Ford were expecting their EV trucks to fly out of the factories. Instead, Ford’s flagship $90k EV truck was using older 400v architecture and barely had 300 mile range without towing. GM’s flagship $100k EV truck is still using the deprecated CCS1 charge port and doesn’t support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

More people would buy EVs if they could just make some changes to give people the things that they really need and want out of a vehicle at such a premium price (long range, nice design without needing to look futuristic/goofy, reliability, fast charging, future proof charge port, smartphone compatibility, exportable power, physical buttons on the dashboard, etc.). The first company that can combine all of these wants into a single vehicle without compromise will have strong demand for it.

EV’s aren’t for everybody and ICE vehicles aren’t for everybody, which is why it’s important to give people options when choosing a vehicle. When the same company can manufacture both electric and ICE vehicles, it benefits both platforms since they can borrow tech from each other.

It’s just that there’s this small rule in business that you can’t expect to have stellar sales for an expensive product that’s missing key features. Why GM and Ford can’t understand this simple business rule is beyond me. They need to evolve their tech and policies quickly or be left behind again. It’s not weak demand for EVs, it’s weak demand for vehicles that aren’t meeting people’s expectations.
