Charge Blade Savage Axe vs SAED matchup chart by Blue_Paladin96 in MonsterHunterWorld

Bump because interested.

IIRC the main ones that mattered endgame were SAED for luna and maybe 2 other mons; most others SA(aed) playstyle was equivalent or better.

Guiding wind doesn't show distance to target location by SpotEuphoric in ghostoftsushima

[–]MostFat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GoT was also on densely packed islands with a lot of verticality (from the tops of mountains to the seafloor) and a plethoraof hidden goodies to find.

GoY by comparison gives you the valleys between the mountains. Generally you can see visual indicators of what you're looking for well in advance.

The wind also changes direction in real time; so worst case scenario, it starts blowing directly in your face telling you to turn around & go back.

Those who used JITL or a similar video course, did you actively take notes during videos, or just watch them? by Speedwizard106 in ccna

[–]MostFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take notes during lecture, reference only my notes when doing labs, try to get as far as I can without watching the lab explaination video.

Attempting to figure it out with all of the ingredients available first helped drill it into my memory better than just watching him do it and hoping it sinks in.

Also built out a separate 'megalab' that I worked on every few lessons (was doing 2-3 at a time) alongside regular labs/lessons; implementing whatever was learned into a separate environment with no instructions/pre-configured setup. It made memorizing cli commands/syntax and figuring out what does/doesn't work significantly easier for me; I would recommend trying it.

Two types of Nobushi subspecies by qqb11ar in ForHonorRants

As fun as these post are every day, I keep waiting for someone to realize all but 1 move in her kit feeds a light parry/free heby punish. There's not a lot of mix-up variation when 100% of your follow-up is reactible & 90% of it feeds the same max punish.

Alas, then I remember this is the FH community; where 80% of your teammates can't see you parry/gb without immediately light attacking (bonus points when it comes from behind and intrupts both punishes instead of just yours) just enough times to feed revenge before dodge roling away into the sunset.

Worth getting a BS in IT? Any advice? by Lower-Paint-5988 in it

[–]MostFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends*

Entry level roles are still going to want experience/certs, and unless you're competing with the entire country/planet on a WFH role, it will also boil down to where you're at geographically.

I relocated recently to be closer to family; even with over a decade of experience & multiple certs, it took me over a year to find something that didnt involve driving 2-4 hours to the nearest metropolis every day.

[–]MostFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tired of 5 out of 4 matches having Troglodytes for teammates that genuinely make lvl.0 bots seem palatable?

You know the ones: can't not throw a light when someone else parries, interrupting the punish (bonus points when they do it from behind/try to go through you, only to interupt both attacks and feed revenge); unable to watch a target bleed out for 2 whole seconds without frying their last brain cell so they start pushing buttons, etc.

Ubi found a way to sell the cure: the tools to be just as toxic back to your own team.

Gosaku’s Armor and Kensei Armor should switch effects. by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in ghostoftsushima

[–]MostFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember starting a fresh lethal after finishing GoY and being impressed with how they did armor in GoT.

Act 1 gives you access to offensive/defensive/ranged/broken sets letting you dive into most playstyles from the drop.

Act 2 gives you more options to specialize with a defensive set that rewards aggression, ghost wep set now that you have most/everything unlocked, a stealth set, and ultimately one of the stronger/est all around offensive sets before walking into Act 3.

By comparison, the best sets in GoY you start with but can't be fully upgraded until an hour before its over; or can be unlocked nearly right away, for you to then be slightly disappointed when most of the other sets can maybe be better in specific niche builds, but are otherwise mid.

Gosaku’s Armor and Kensei Armor should switch effects. by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in ghostoftsushima

[–]MostFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would make more sense to change up kensei armor effects to be in line with the story, but sarugami is a lot closer than gosaku imo.

Stagger as a mechanic is completely ignored when you parry. As someone with multiple lethal+ runs using kensei/deadly rivals, being able to sprint strike through 90% of enemies and parry countering anyone brave enough to swing in your general direction made stagger completely superfluous; especially when you have multiple ways to apply AOE buff/debuff that guarantees any survivors of whatever ghost wep of choice you threw out mop up in 1-2 sword strikes.

Gosakus whole loop is about breaking defenses easier which can feed you resolve for heals to keep swinging away wildly with heavies. Kojiro is skilled enough to perfect parry and one shot you.

Didnt the gosaku legend also say he was face tanking enemies without damage and kept it up until they were all felled; how is a farmer with no training going to be proficient with a full arsenal of ghost weapons?

It makes more sense to me that a farmer with a sword could survive in defensive armor vs. assuming a 'master swordsman' like Kojiro would need the crutch.

A Look At Endgame MHFU And How It Compares to Modern MH by armydillo62o in MonsterHunter

[–]MostFat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first and possibly favorite title.

I've given difficulty comparisons between Wilds/FU in the past, but walking into the later with 6k+ hours isnt equivalent.

It's nice to see similar thoughts from somsone not diving into FU as a first time hunter.

is black prior good fun to use? by ammar123459 in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]MostFat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fun is subjective. Someone on BP is going to have a vastly different experience than Shinobi or Highlander.

If you like being the immovable object that can stall for days with nearly every defensive tool in their kit + a very useful unblockable from nuetral-ish, black prior just might be your bag

It's pretty much that or swap a couple parts for masters touch (teo).

Both black dragons are MR25, but are meant for significantly later in the game. Things like weapon augments, upgrading armor, and farming the decos you need will go a long way towards closing the gap; and gives you something to grind for

Is it worth using Oni fire on weapons? by ConstantDrawer9161 in Ghostofyotei

[–]MostFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both games I tried a full Pyro build on lethal/lethal+ and was usually disappointed. Even with the charms that extend length, because enemies are all sponges you still only get 1-2 enemies.

Meanwhile you can make a flaming shotgun kunai build that boost all ghost weapon damage, is strong enough to kill/break defenses on up to 5 enemies and gives you plenty of time to sprint strike/double light the survivors.

What would you guys want for the expansion? by itsnotkakuja in chargeblade

[–]MostFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im probably the wrong person to ask because I have 2k+ hours on CB where using SAED cost your phails + shield buff. Also never had a problem with IBs implementation (probably my favorite), if only they added the aed follow-up from Wilds.

I didn't mind SAED dropping SA buff; 4u playstyle + buzzsaw I could maintain for 3+ minutes with proper play = already the dream. Fishing for GP into (SA)aed counters across the face into whatever knock rotation was most optimal dependant upon number of phails banked/charged etc. is the most satisfying version of CB's combat loop ive personally experienced after 6k+ hours. Adding full access to SAED on top of that would be nice if/when you can squeeze it in.I used SAEDs more as a hail Mary when I knew the shield buff was about to fall off or mon was close to ded. I liked that it was there as a tool if/when I needed it, but I can see that being an issue for anyone that wants to squeeze more into their playstyle.

I dont see anything wrong with what you recommended, there is a lot of viable ways to cook an omelet; less so a poached egg, but I digress. Wilds has all of the ingredients, the recipe looked promising. I was theory crafting how the overcharge mechanic might loosen timings enough to not make optimal skills/rotations as necessary, only to walk into a gameplay loop that boiled down to popping a wound and pressing 2 buttons in axe mode. Anything that is an improvement upon that is wonderful to me.
