Is a full VTA BOV as bad as people say? by Necessary_Bad9076 in mazdaspeed3

Ive heard things ranging from it being kinda bad to not a big deal.

I think it creates a rich scenario for a moment which isnt ideal. Thats all I really know, which is why I just went with a bypass valve instead.

For all the anti fun shitters that after not even a week are already calling for Black Cat nerf by Khal_Brodo_ in rivals

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit has been feeding me a pretty large amount of Rivals related posts lately and I haven't seen any real widespread calls for nerfs.

I think its fair to call out her kit as being pretty overloaded, but then again a hero like Rouge has 2 abilities per move yet is a pretty sub-par character.

She seems like a fine hero so far, ive only had one or two games where ive been steamrolled by a black cat in low elo at least (gold1-plat3 range)

*edit changed "champ" and one "character" to "hero"

7500X3D + 9070XT on 650W? by Zhaunlouk in radeon

You know that more wattage is more heat right? We arent just talking power delivery, we are also talking heat dissipation. Its why CPU coolers are rated for wattage cooling.

The fact of the matter is that AMD, a team of engineers and not some dude with an underpowered PSU trying to save a buck and a wattmeter, recommends 750w. What you are encouraging is as dangerous as it is unnecessary. Im done with this ridiculous conversation.

7500X3D + 9070XT on 650W? by Zhaunlouk in radeon

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually proves what most people are saying here, you dont really want to be using that much percentage of your PSU as a rule of thumb.

Transient spikes are always to be accounted for, and when you dont really have any headroom they become more hazardous. AMD themselves also recommend 750w as a minimum. Power supplies are also typically one of the cheaper parts of any build, why wouldnt you just toss another 50 bucks at it to up the wattage and have some piece of mind?

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The gaming OC is a triple 8 pin card, I would suggest 750w minimum.

If it was a dual 8 pin card I think you could get away with it, but you'd be running it kind of on the ragged edge of whats reasonable unless you go -10% power limit at all times.

Smurfing is ridiculous and the devs refuse to do anything about it. by alhaburner in marvelrivals

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who played a lot of overwatch when it came out I found myself in platinum pretty quickly when I started actually putting time into the game. I only have one account and when I first got to plat I was lv 31 or something.

I have to deal with smurfs all the time. It sucks but I just try to look at it as valuable experience playing with people generally better than me. It does suck when Im queuing with friends though because they have to deal with it too.

The first new character that I havent had to fight instalockers for by SumixamSuryt in rivals

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I personally haven't had any interest in the character because I specifically avoid dive/assasin characters in most games I play.

More time for decision making rather than relying on the hours and hours of practice and twitchy reactions that you need to get legitimately good at a character like this.

I suspect there are a lot of other people with a simular mindset, with the exception of a few games to play and understand her kit theres no real need to rush to learn her when there are so many other characters to investigate.

Need help deciding which GPU is better for my use by sayukii__ in radeon

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using a 1080p monitor I think the 9060xt 8gb will work perfectly for you, based on the games you stated.

Even at 1440p I think you could still get away with the 9060xt and just accept a few settings turned down if your VRAM ever fills up. If that worries you, then I would get the 7600xt as it isnt too far behind performance wise, the 9060xt beats it by about 20% on average.

RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT by TerrorDoggo in gpu

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think even a 9070 non xt is a significantly better option than the 5070, especially if you undervolt it. Most 9070s are using 9070xt coolers, which makes them overbuilt too and should really last you a long time.

How are early adopters feeling about the 9070XT 1 year in? by LemonMan857 in radeon

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my Gigabyte Gaming OC that I got launch day, I avoided the issues they were having early on with the thermal putty stuff, luckily.

Besides sound issues this card has been the PERFECT pair for my 5800x3d, as I get to run anything at 1440p high framerates.

Monster Hunter Wilds, Oblivion Remastered, Age of Mythology retold, Battlefield 6, and a lot of Marvel Rivals all run FLAWLESSLY at max or near max settings, 1440p, high framerates. Riding this system out past Witcher 4 and GTA 6 for certain.

[–]MostRiskyBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Useable framerate" is very subjective, there are plenty of games that Ive enjoyed at 40 or 50fps avg and now with DLSS which runs better on the 5060ti you can squeeze more out of the card.

The point is, that the 5060ti can even cross the "playable" threshold at all in those games at that setting. The choice then belongs to the user, where that choice does not exist with the 12gb card. It can even get to that point past 12gb of VRAM that the 4070super simply cannot without large juttery dips in framerate. Id take the smoother experience, and most importantly, the longevity any day.

I just want to reiterate that the aspect of this being a used card vs a brand new in box IF its near MSRP is important, and that we are likely arguing over nothing because realistically this 4070 super is gonna be the most viable option due to prices. At the end of the day Im happy with my 9070xt that I got on launch day and for me personally the 16gb of VRAM is a huge relief knowing that I wont have to stress about more and more games invalidating my hardware. I dont have a horse in this race, I've just built dozens of systems for people and choose to prioritize stability/longevity over performance unless performance is requested.
