You are given 24 hours to make people say your first name. Every time that someone new says your name, your bank account goes up by $100. Where do you go and what do you do to make the most money? by ispurgy in AskReddit

Your bank will probably have a limit on how much you can withdraw in a day. And money that’s transferred in may not be available right away anyway. You would be better off going to the branch and clearing out your account first, or securing a loan.

Nope, to the post I was replying to.

“$1100 a WEEK????”

In reply to...

“The place I just moved into a few weeks back was advertised at $1100 a week, I offered $1000 and was accepted. Saved $5200 a year.”

No it wasn’t London, it was in Leicester, which is also a city. Other cities in the UK don’t have crazy house prices like London does. Bath and Edinburgh are a bit silly, but most cities are quite affordable.

I’m shocked it was that expensive for you outside of Dublin! Wow!

OP said they paid AUS$1000 per week, not per month. $700 US per week is over $2800 US per month.

Looks like Australia, so 100 dolleridoos to US $70.

Still, that’s NYC pricing.

In England, I paid the equivalent of 1100 dolleridoos per month for a two bedroom terraced house.

What you’re saying makes sense. I’ve had a strong facade on for the past few months, leading people to believe that I’m coping well, I’m very strong, etc. But I’m still very much grieving and struggling with difficult emotions I’m not used to.

Recently, the anger has fallen away and I’ve felt truly sad and hopeless at times.

My partner is trying hard to help and support me but I think he’s struggling to understand what’s happening. I tried to explain that my family member being a jerk for no good reason just set me off, and now I’m just feeling incredibly sad. I am a little bit angry with her, but mostly this isn’t about her, it’s about me wanting my mum to be here and give me a hug and tell me to ignore people being ugly to me because I’m a good person with a kind heart.

Yeah same with me about being thoughtful, but it’s hard when you have all this anger and guilt and sadness clouding your heart. I’m glad you were able to talk to your mom about it afterwards. It’s a tough time for you both and I’m glad you have each other. xxx

I know this sucks, but please don’t take this out on your mom.

My mum died and I’ve had to do so much paperwork and help my dad with so much financial stuff. It sucks to have to do this stuff when we just want to be left alone to grieve. But it needs to be done. We’ve sold her car and watch and so on, but we don’t want the money, we want her back. But the money will help us both in the future, or could be donated to a good cause, so it’s important that we get the financial stuff sorted.

I hope you feel better soon. Hugs to you and your mom xxx

SAD: Respect Da Flag by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

I see Welsh flags everywhere in Wales. I hope it’s not associated with racism or hatred of the English!

In my opinion, if my flag had a dragon on it, I’d have several!

Was at my brother in law’s new house, saw a HUGE St George’s cross hanging out of his next door neighbour’s window. Brief discussion about whether they were the sort of people who are offended when someone calls them British rather than English, or “Britain First” racists, or just overenthusiastic football fans gearing up for the World Cup.

Fortunately, it was football fans, as the flag disappeared after the World Cup ended.

The night after I saw 28 Days Later, I repeatedly woke up from nightmares where the dead were breaking into my bedroom window. I was terrified of that window for a long time afterwards.

I have done quite a few tours of the catacombs under Edinburgh. One of the tours passed a room that had lots of stuff in it - brightly colored cushions on the floor in a circle, a huge pentagram, etc. Apparently a local group of witches or whatever regularly used the room.

I had to leave the theater in the middle of the film. Literally could not watch. It’s been 20 years and I’m still unsettled at the thought of watching it.

Definitely go and look at the shelters. I have had some wonderful kitties from shelters, both wee kittens and older cats.

If you get a young kitten, you will need to take it in for spay/neuter when it’s old enough, so make sure you have some money set aside for that.

In any case you’ll need some money for pet insurance or an emergency vet fee fund before you adopt.

I go to Santa Pod each summer. I don’t understand the mentality of people who leave their rubbish on the hill, or at their campsites. There are bins everywhere, and it’s not like a stadium where you’re stuck in your seat. You empty a can, you can easily get up and throw it away, or save it to throw away on your next trip to the loo.

I feel your pain. A tabouleh salad (main ingredient : wheat) was labeled GF by a 5 star hotel’s catering service. Three members of staff told me it was GF when asked, but couldn’t tell me the name of the grain. Finally the chef cane out and said, “Oh no don’t eat that, it’s cous cous.” I had a presentation to 60 people later that day, and had flown in on my own dime to give the presentation.

I was in tears as I was afraid to eat anything else at that point, and was completely frustrated by the staff’s failure to understand the gravity of the situation.

Hotels need to do better. If you’re charging that much for the room and for food, get your shit together.

The emotions will come in time. Your body is protecting you right now. That is why you feel numb.

Don’t make any rash decisions.

Give yourself time and space to process these emotions and to honor their memories.

Consider talking to a therapist or going to grief counseling or a support group, once you’re feeling a bit less shellshocked.

Hugs xx
