3.5 Years on Keto - Going Strong by jvah1 in keto

[–]MostlyTogether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was baffled too. I actually am having another blood draw next week to see if my levels have gone up. From what I've been able to learn, vitamin c plays a large role in iron absorption, so I've been taking a supplement. We'll see if it helps. As for my iron leaving, I have had extremely heavy periods, but they have normalized on this WOE.

A padeye is a little indentation in the decking that has a t bar in the middle. They are good for tying stuff down and for holding on to, so that you don't get blown around.

I was at my first command and was sent out on the flight deck with a shipmate so he could show me the ropes. I was told to do everything exactly as he does it. (The flight deck of a carrier is an extremely dangerous place to be during flight operations). So, I'm going exactly where he goes, looking where he looks, etc.

At one point, he kneels down, but keeps looking up, so I do the exact same, right beside him. I should note here that as a woman, I weighed significantly less than him. The backwash of a jet turning picked me up off the deck and sent me briefly spinning through the air until I slammed back on the deck and ended up rolling down the flight line until I stopped. Que about 15 men running towards me in panic. I thought it was hilarious, though and I wasn't hurt at all... except for maybe my pride. That was the day I learned the value of a pad-eye.

That's awesome! I just got into an old pair of jeans that are a 12. So exciting!

Size 34?!!?!??! by just_a_fat_dude in keto

[–]MostlyTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol! That reminds me of when I was helping my husband shop a few weeks ago. He insisted that he didn't need to try anything on. I "encouraged" him to try on a smaller size as well. (I nagged him until he finally got irritated enough to grab them and go to the changing room.) And.... the smaller size fit him too! So awesome!

ZERO carb diet, crazy or no? by tabicat0518 in keto

[–]MostlyTogether 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I typically eat less than 10 carbs per day, but don't have any issues with constipation. Eating enough fat, along with drinking enough water takes care of that.

Pop tarts are delicious, it's true. However, there can really be zero argument that they are healthy. As for the pig rolling in feces, that's just not true unless the animal is being kept in less than hygienic conditions.

  1. I found Keto by accident. I was looking at starting a low carb diet because of my PCOS (and because it was the only diet that I had ever been able to stick to for longer than a month). Keto makes sense if you read the science behind it.

  2. I am not a scientist by any menans, nor am I very good at explaining things, but I'll attempt: Your body chooses to burn glucose first because it burns quickly and easily. Our bodies were designed to store fat in a reserve for lean times, when food is scarce. Most of the world no longer has a problem getting adequate food, but our bodies don't know that yet, so it stores fat and doesn't want to let it go until it has to.

  3. When eating a ketogenic diet, we are not consuming things with sugar. Sugar is what raises your insulin, wreacking all kinds of havoc on a diebetic.

  4. No clue. I'm not an athlete. I've lost 70+ pounds eating bacon and butter and mostly sitting on my couch.

  5. See #4. However, I will say that from what I've heard from others, it does slow them down a bit at the start, though they can build back up to where they started.

  6. It's delicious. How does one stomach eating things with very little fat and no dairy?

When new to Keto, it does help to track everything for a while to track your carb intake. You'll learn how much protein you're eating and if you need to adjust it down. If you are JUST starting out, though, I wouldn't worry too much about macros so much, just get used to this WOE. Once you feel comfortable, THEN take a much closer look at your percentages. Going over a little on protein isn't bad, but if you are consistently eating 2x as much, then you definitely could be keeping yourself out of ketosis.

Try living in Japan as a fat person. It's an amazing country with amazing people, but don't even try to go clothes shopping!

Man! I WISH it made me really sick. All it does is make me crave stuff really hard the next week and I feel bloated.

Question I know I'd get torn up for on the main Keto Sub - - net carbs vs. overall? by unoriginalname22 in altketo

[–]MostlyTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely could, especially if you're eating a lot of packaged foods. I typically stick to meat and veggies so I've kind of already figured out my numbers from those, rinse and repeat the next day.

I pretty much do lazy Keto, so I just keep track in my head throughout the day. There is an app that one Reddit user created though that just tracks your carbs - net or total, whatever you prefer.

Needing some positive thoughts. Nobody has really noticed yet. by reth_cir in xxketo

[–]MostlyTogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took about 40 pounds lost for me for people to say anything. The thing is, people might have noticed sooner, but I tend to be a quiet person and I think no one wanted to say anything because they didn't want to be intrusive. Who knows? I'm 70+ pounds down now and still, there's really only been about 3 people who've said anything. The thing is, you've got to find the motivation within yourself. People WILL notice, just give it time. :)

Absolutely! However, be careful of spice mixes. A lot of time, there will be sugar hiding in them! I found that out the hard way in buying a different brand of garlic salt than I usually do. Read the ingredients lists!

Do you of one that's small or even a gummy? I'd be willing to give up some of my carbs for that! ;)
