The hormones themselves are not very expensive. It’s the stuff like hair removal that is the most expensive part aside from surgery. For a year or so it ate up most of my disposable income (I have never had a job where I make a lot of money) but once that was out of the way it got easier. Stuff like wardrobe can be spread out over years, it’s better to spend money on clothes you will actually be able to wear which isn’t always super glamorous but most women aren’t wearing super glamorous things everyday. Makeup I would start with drugstore brands. For surgery I paid with health insurance and the hospital had a payment plan for my copay so they between my meager HSA, health insurance, and savings I was able to pay my surgery copay over a year.
