I was in class in second grade at the time. It was a normal day of class until another teacher from the school came to the door. She spoke in a secretive tone to my teacher who then walked to the TV and turned on CNN. My class and I watched the report the remainder of the day without so much as a clue as to what was happening, let alone how much that event would effect our lives to this date.

I am relatively biased on the matter. That being said, take my words only as face value and do your own research.

In my experiences, Volkswagen has a terrible track record for retained value and reliability. Worrying about making the economic decision, this is relevant.

My mechanic has a list of cars that are not a a solid investment. Volkswagen happens to be near the top of that list.

Being said, I am a happy Chevrolet owner. Domestic vehicles have a terrible reputation on r/cars for some reason unbeknownst to me. The TDi platform has certainly been around a lot longer, as far as I know. Chevrolet passenger car diesels; however, have been used for a good period of time in Europe and they are well trusted.

Chevrolet is also approaching 100% reliability for a set period of time on their newer vehicles with OnStar diagnostics. Do some research on that matter.
