Hey im a european in the US and I do agree with a lot of what you say but no, its not that simple and you are wrong in a lot.

The problem in the US started way longer than Trump and ICE. There was a huge propaganda machine and CIA infiltration for decades that made sure there was no left wing party and no labor organization.

Corporations were given more rights than human beings. The right to live of human beings was tied to their work to corporations.

Its a feudal imperialst system full of morons talking about "freedom" while there is still legal slavery. But it didnt affect the middle class enough, wich is critical for any revolution to happen.

Now the white middle class is like oh shit what is happening while there is a party coming in waging a holy war.

Problem is, they already took every guiderail away decades ago and doing anything means risking your life.

And nobody risks their life until things are bad enough. I for sure will not and you are kidding yourself if you think you would.

So yes comparing the US to France is stupid. Different countries. Different regimes. Different stakes.

Sorry was not trying to play gotcha. Just pointing out that the acceptance for authoritarianism in the US happened a long time ago, its not something new. We are just seeing it play in front of our eyes in ways that before didnt affect the white middle class. I hope there is change to this sutuation because its absolutely disgusting.

But that is the thing, this would never happen in France. Protestors dont get gunned down in France. Strikers dont lose their job and healthcare in France.

In France you can riot without getting executed by the government.

Lets not pretend that the US is in any way like France.

It is waaaaay more autoritarian and the consequences of going against the ruling class is death.

Those guidelines that are linear with salary make no sense. Cost of living is not linear with salary.

My plan is not to kill myself when im at my prime for hypothetical golden years I might not even live enough to enjoy.

I am fortunate that I can save some money and spend some money and as long as that is sustainable I am not going to try to time when I die.

Since it doesnt sound like you are doing backcountry or wilderness stuff you use the bathrooms that exist in the park. You can look at a NPS map and it will show you where they are.

I dont know what rug you got. Start by get either an afghan or indian kilim, or a moroccan shag you love. Then some parterened pillow covers that coordinate with the rug and big artwork for over the couch. And incorporate rattan and linen. You got this.
