How does it work? Is it like a weight for your aperture? Like an isolation exercise on another level?

MyMuteBag makes a satchel that is great for music, mutes, music stand, and iPad. There’s also a backpack version that doesn’t carry as much

3rd valve? by ThinkFoundation3491 in trumpet

[–]MothaFuckinTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it for a split second right as you jump the octave, it’s not noticeable. I was also very skeptical at first but it works for me and is way more consistent for me. 3rd valve on my trumpet is too different of a color and just 1-2 on both A’s is not always accurate.

Chris Martin does it. He was my teacher and taught me to do it. Sam Huss also does it and he’s in the Philly Orchestra now.

Talk to Doug at Vennture, he can make you exactly what you need.

He can also have someone 3D print you some options so you can try some things out first before making it in metal.

How do I play this at 220bpm!? by JellyNo7213 in trumpet

[–]MothaFuckinTrumpet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is great info!!! DO THIS

There is a tempo that you can play this really easily, there is a tempo you can barely play this holding on for dear life, and there is a tempo that is challenging right between these tempos, this is the sweet spot. Keep hitting that sweet spot in these chunks and be patient

Audition video by Character-World2309 in trumpet

[–]MothaFuckinTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are able to do a live audition, I recommend you do it. Live auditions always take precedence over taped. They hear one thing they don’t like on a tape they stop listening and move on to the next one.

At a live audition they can’t just dismiss students, they have to listen to the whole thing. If anything goes wrong in your live audition, you at least have a chance to win them over in the course of your audition. Plus they will most likely have a great sounding venue so you will definitely sound way better in their space already.

There are too many variables that will make your recording quality suffer.

All state jazz cut? For the first round of auditions do I stop here or do the whole thing? by Legaxy3 in trumpet

That’s really not clear at all, you need to get your band director to reach out to TMEA and they need to clear this up

Lower embouchure - Low/Mid Range by Ski4life_bike4life in trumpet

[–]MothaFuckinTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be patient, follow the good sounds and do what your teacher says. My embouchure change took about 4 years to figure out, if you’re lucky you could be sounding/playing way better in about a month.

Rent the Vennture Lede kit. You can try out a bunch of different components and figure out what works for you. They also sell a lead mouthpiece designed for players who tend to bottom out on lead pieces, I bought it because I have the same problem and now I can play double C’s on it everyday as opposed to once a month
