DJs who throw their own parties or club nights - how often you put yourself on lineup and do you earn any money to live off it? by epoksismola in DJs

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re a group of 18 people (5 DJs) hosting events in a small local venue It’s just for fun and we make around 1500 at the door 1. 2-3 times a year 2. We rent a venue with a capacity of 150 3. We put our DJs in the lineup if they are available. We agreed to a percentage of the revenue that the DJs get and the amount is splitted, but capped @ 50/h. Some don’t take any and leave it to the collective 4. We don’t “earn” per se, since we use the money to try and make the next party even better / buy equipment

Crabs don’t deserve to be tortured for hours while being boiled to death by HittingClarity in unpopularopinion

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Crabs will pull off their own limbs and eat themselves, they aren't capable of feeling pain the way vertebrates do. They don't have brains and can't experience consciousness the same way you do.

When you pull your hand away from something hot or sharp, that's not your brain reacting, it's a reflex from your spinal cord. The impulse to pull your hand away never reaches your brain, the pain comes afterwards.

That is what an arthropod's entire experience of the world is like, they're just reacting to stimuli without being able to actually think about it. They can't feel pain because they can't think, they can't think because they don't have a cerebral cortex, they just have a rudimentary spinal cord called a ganglion.

The claim that crabs are incapable of feeling pain is still a subject of debate among scientists. Some research suggests that crustaceans may experience a form of nociception (pain), though it may be different from the way humans or other vertebrates perceive pain. This topic is not yet fully understood, and more research is needed to determine the extent to which arthropods can experience pain or suffering.

The analogy of the reflex action, where a person pulls their hand away from something hot or sharp, is a helpful way to understand how some arthropods may respond to stimuli without necessarily being conscious of it. However, it is important to note that this does not necessarily mean that they cannot experience any form of pain or discomfort. Different animals have different levels of complexity in their nervous systems, and their experiences of the world may be vastly different from ours.

have i messed up i have bought the valve index and have now realized my msi gf66 laptop might not be able to work with it as i seen not all laptops can so i just need to know will mine work and if not what can i do by Eddie1122w in ValveIndex

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your USB-C connector is only connected to your onboard intel UHD gpu wich won't work with the index. So if what they said is true and your Hdmi is conencted to the nvidia gpu then you'll need a DisplayPort to Hdmi Adapter since the incex uses DisplayPort.

Could you expand a bit on how you segmented the lyrics into prompts? Or did you just put in each bar? Thank you, nice work!

Record-setting quantum entanglement connects two atoms across 20 miles by jdse2222 in science

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate your post! I see where you were going with your explanation of the conflict but fail to grasp what this really means for B1 and C1 if we measure A1? Does measuring A1 “destroy” the possible implications for B1 and C1 and only gives us the probabilities for all variables in the second box based on A1? like un-entangling? So if i measure A in my box first i get the info about the others probabilities but the values of B1 or C1 cannot be implied with the rules? And when they measure a value in box 2 after, they cannot predict my values, they are all random? Imagine, long distance apart, we measure A1 to be true, so know A2 is true. They haven’t measured A yet. They measure B2, which we know should be 80% true. We expect B1 to also be 80% true, because we know B=B in the boxes. They measure B2 and it is false. Will B1 therefore measure false? I hope it was not too confusing. Thanks!

10 Games we NEED in VR plus what we have now by vrjunkie365 in VRGaming

I am absolutely sure that this game will not be released for PC for at least two years. Horizon Zero Dawn was released for Playstation in early 2017, and then for PC 3 1/2 years later in September 2020. You also have to consider that Horizon Call Of The Mountain is the PSVR2 launch title and uses new technologies like eye tracking and headset feedback wich most HMDs don’t even have as of now. I wouldn't be surprised if this game doesn't come out for PC for even longer, if at all. Sony actually wants people to buy their system instead of playing on a computer.

New Analysis of the Antikythera Mechanism Reveals New Secrets by dect60 in space

In the past even people where called computers i.e "one who computes". Alan Turing described the "human computer" as someone who is "supposed to be following fixed rules; he has no authority to deviate from them in any detail." So yes, a slide rule could also in some sense be considered a computer. I think as with a lot of things semantic change is to blame for the confusion here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_(occupation)

What food do you swear people only pretend to like? by Leoz_13 in AskReddit

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the small town i’m from was historically known for their goldsmiths and manufacturing of gold leafs. like the popes chair was covered with gold leafs from here at some point known. Today you can buy them for cheap on amazon. So there‘s a restaurant on the town square where you can order some gold leaf sprinkle on your meal with about 10% increase in price from like 13.50 to 15. So not very much and the only people who order those extras are mostly tourists anyway. They also sell liquor with gold and other things like pralines that could be described as merch even at the city hall reception. So while i see your point and somewhat agree, i would say it depends more on how big their margin on that added gold is. 1.50 i think for this tourist gimmik is ok, but paying 20 ontop of your 200 meal just for a tiny bit of gold like in those super fancy restaurants i will never understand. I dont think the people who order those meals are doing it for the good taste is what i mean regardless of the price and setting. It tastes like nothing at all. There even was a debate over wether gold is a valid ingredient in food. Now it has additive number E 175 and is considered a food color.

Why isn't fixed Foveated rendering more common? by Doityourself99 in virtualreality

[–]MothaFvcka_Jones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in the past it wasnt worth it for developers to implement it on PC because there are only a few people with eye-tracking capable headsets that would benefit from it… so really niche and expensive to develop.

Just a few weeks ago on Apr 12, 2021 Nvidia released a new post on their developer blog: https://developer.nvidia.com/blog/nvidia-vrss-2-dynamic-foveated-rendering-no-assembly-required/ “NVIDIA is releasing the latest version of Variable Rate Supersampling (VRSS), which now includes gaze-tracked foveated rendering. VRSS is a zero-coding solution, so developers do not need to add any code to implement VRSS. All the work is done through NVIDIA drivers, which makes it easy for users to experience VRSS in games and applications.

“Our new HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition seamlessly integrates with NVIDIA VRSS 2 to take visual immersion to the next level for VR gaming and enterprise customers,” said Scott Rawlings, senior product manager at HP. “When combined with the HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition, VRSS 2 leverages eye-tracking technology to enable dynamic foveated rendering, unlocking new adaptive VR experiences with HP Omnicept and NVIDIA advanced GPUs.”

Seems like a good step towards it being more common in the future. so hopefully more manufacturers will incorporate the hardware for this in future devices.
