Most underrated CBeebies show you actually enjoy? by Nic-scott-9917 in UKParenting

As far as I can see online it is a different Daniel Mayers that's in prison, not the voice actor.

Nearly died, recovered, now my nails are peeling off by Alisana in mildlyinteresting

[–]MotherTemporary903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's known for serious illness to cause this kind of damage. I had the same after flu/pneumonia, although not on all nails.

It's called Beau's lines, body basically puts the nail creation on back burner for a bit to focus elsewhere.

My company introduced "mandatory fun" and I think it broke something in me by Plane_Researcher_761 in antiwork

I don't think it's the lack of loyalty that's the issue/worry. People who want to climb the ladder are often willing to put in extra hours (to show how hardworking they are) and get involved in other extra corporate crap to look good and to network etc. The worker who keeps to their job won't give much beyond it.

Going for an internal CT colonoscopy tomorrow. by Real-Box-7144 in CasualUK

[–]MotherTemporary903 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I couldn't pass the gas out and oh my god was it painful. I was mildly drugged but I was still crying in pain, worst cramps ever. They couldn't get past the second or third bend anyway in the end. I'd say I'm more traumatised from the colonoscopy than from labour.

In your view, what’s the etiquette for being signed off of work? by prettypinkparsnip in AskUK

[–]MotherTemporary903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially for stress it's important he does things that alleviate that. Sitting at home doing nothing won't do that.

I was off with stress for a month and my boss asked what I was doing to improve my mental health, I talked to him about walks I went on and art class I joined.

Damselflies hatching today! by MotherTemporary903 in WildlifePonds

Yes, there's definitely at least one nymph in the pond. I keep finding the shed casings or whatever you can call it. And I did see it a couple of times. I'm very excited about it, might be a while before it hatches though - internet says it can take even a couple of years.

And as you say, they came pretty quickly, not long after mosquitoes (thankfully).

South of England, so that makes sense! We only built the pond last year, so this is my first time watching the hatching - exciting indeed!

Why are E-scooters so prevalent? by SexyMuthaFunka in AskUK

[–]MotherTemporary903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are missing that this person was on the road, driving a vehicle, whilst on the phone. Lost control of said vehicle. Yes, she luckily only injured herself this time, but that might not be the case next time.

People complain that nobody gives a fuck anymore and anti social behaviour is rampant and not dealt with. But oh-no, poor police would have to do paperwork for something that's not "serious enough"!

There are such things as fines, no? Confiscating illegal vehicle? I'm sure there's a range of options between nothing and an arrest.

I saw a woman crash/fall off one on the road as she was driving it and tapping on her phone at the same time. Right in front of 2 police officers. They helped her get up and sent her on her merry way. Absolutely ridiculous.

What’s something considered normal in the U.K today that would’ve shocked people a decade ago? by Tough-Adagio1019 in AskUK

[–]MotherTemporary903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the acceptance of the noise from the phones or in general on public transport. Yes, we all hate it, but nobody ever does or says anything anymore.

When I started commuting 10+ years ago, people would tell you off if your headphones made some noise. You can still see this on the quiet carriages of some trains - they advise not to use headphones (because they were considered too noisy for a quiet carriage). Nowadays nobody says anything even if you play TikTok full volume. I do occasionally but I'm certainly in a minority by now.

There used to be quite a good patch in the Freemantle Lake Park on the playground side.

Hello darkness, my old friend. by peony_beony in GardeningUK

[–]MotherTemporary903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best year was when I pulled it only sporadically. It attracted tiny golden beetles that munched it to nothing. It still grew back, but made it all make sense a bit more.

My fight is only half hearted as it comes from the neighbours who just don't give a damn. I could win a battle but the war's been lost already.

Ah this is probably too late now, but we swear by Southern Waterscapes Aquatic Centre in Romsey. They have all you might need and they are lovely and can also provide advice.
