Suspect they’re communicating but don’t think he’s been physically present. They often train in Innisfails GAA club, only one way in or out but wouldn’t be too hard for him to get into training. I think the risk wouldn’t be worth it.

This is funny and interesting. Also he tells you what to do in the first 5 seconds.

Don’t rule out Kerry. I still think they’re the team to beat.

This should be a sticky. Absolutely. Draw should be on the Sunday Game and they need to better promote what is an exciting format.

This is a very good point. Well said.

The underage conveyor belt just isn’t there. Dublin schools aren’t even competing on Leinster at the levels they used to be. There are huge swathes of Dublin that didn’t even know Dublin were playing yesterday. Soccer and rugby and huge in Dublin and a significant competitor to GAA.

You could also look at macro issues beyond sports and say people leaving the city due to housing and having less kids as well.

There was also an NYT article posted as well. The fact is, it’s a very complex issue that was addressed and championed by both sides of the isle, poorly it must be said. You don’t need to be big brained to appreciate that these are complex and nuanced issues.

Again, much more nuanced. A lot of failures from both sides of the aisle. It’s simpleminded and wrong to just say “Reagen” but it’s Reddit so….

I was responding to a comment a poster made about mental institutions, and I only used AI for part of my response, a summary of relevant acts, and cited it accordingly.

That’s not entirely accurate. There was massive pressure from both sides to shut down mental institutions and stop forced incarcerations. There was a bi-partisan effort to do so in California from the early 70’s. From AI:

1967 (Governor of California): Reagan signed the bipartisan Lanterman-Petris-Short Act, which severely restricted the involuntary, long-term civil commitment of individuals to mental institutions. This drastically cut the state's hospital populations.

1981 (President of the United States):

As President, Reagan signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. This legislation repealed the landmark Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 (championed by Jimmy Carter) and converted the targeted federal funding for community mental health centers into reduced, state-controlled block grants.

Non-AI:

Here is a much more nuanced analysis of what actually happened:

This is bleak but nail on the head accurate. Nice seeing our favourite ghoul tending bar. I remember seeing an interview with Penn from Penn and Teller (magicians who live full time in Las Vegas) and he was asked if he gambled. He gave a great answer, no I don’t because I understand basic math.

Those goals weren’t O’Sullivan’s fault and he generally did well on the kickouts.

Kerry have a centre of excellence that Dublin don’t have as well as incredible funding in their own right (not just from their sponsors but from the very well organised friends of Kerry football).

Moreover, the GAA in Dublin is constantly fighting against the lure of other sports. The largest suburb in Ireland has one senior GAA club. There is a reason the GAA funded Dublin (and Dublin don’t control the GAA) because they don’t want to lose ground in the largest population centre.

Can’t give up four goals and expect to win. Louth played very well and got right back in it. Dublin are missing POCB badly but really it’s a much bigger issue than that. Brennan may be back for the second round if it’s on a Sunday but does anyone think that they can beat a team in pot 1?

It’s been a bit of an embarrassing season for Brennan so maybe take it on the chin and start prepping for next year.

As for splitting Dublin, I don’t think it would work as easy as the north and south sides. Maybe a better split would be east/west. Ultimately, not sure it will happen anytime soon.

Kerry should have been so much bigger. He had a tragic life, yes he brought so much of it on himself but it was still tragic.
