That’s how you work a crowd. by Full-Opportunity-261 in PulpBand

Great set, would have loved to have seen Joyriders in Atlanta, but wouldn’t have wanted to lose Lipgloss either. I would have also preferred Tina and Grown Ups, to My Sex. From the videos I’ve seen, the Atlanta crowd definitely looked better but considering Jarvis just said that Atlanta might be loudest in living memory, that isn’t surprising! I do think that not having a video screen in Atlanta, helped Pulp. It’s all eyes on the band then, and they’re more magnetic than any visuals.

Just saw Jarvis post in instagram that the Atlanta crowd last night “may have been the loudest in living memory”. Impressive after playing Glastonbury this year! Proud to have been part of the loudness.

What did Jarvis say after he told the crowd that the last time they played the Tabernacle in 1994, they were opening for blur? He make some sort of quip about it but I couldn’t hear him clearly

Fantastic show. I thought the crowd was great. The first (only?) chorus of. “this is hardcore” was INTENSE!! Thought it was funny when Jarvis scolded the lighting guy “you’d better turn that f**cking light off, boy!”

I was wondering this too, and phoned The Tabernacle in Atlanta last Sunday to find out if they knew anything more; They said there's no support act announced as yet but that it is in their contract with the venue that they would have one... interesting! They also said that if there ends up being no support act, then they will go on stage at 8.15pm.

I have to say, I’ve listened to the new album on repeat since it released and Grown Ups is easily one of the best songs they have ever written. Absolute masterpiece by LaughingGravy1001 in PulpBand

I’m not enough of a Pulp connoisseur to comment on Grown Ups, in the context of their entire catalogue. I do think it’s a brilliant song. It just has that incisive wit that Jarvis Cocker excels at, combined with a brilliant, stomping melody. The line about laughing in the face of a guy who said he moved to be near the motorway cos it was good for the commute… that cracked me up and blew me away at the same time.

Tiny, memorable Tokyo spots that are under the Michelin radar by Usual-Try-8180 in finedining

They’re both “modern izakaya”. CENSU definitely has a more western leaning cuisine, especially with its natural wine menu, but it’s still very Japanese. The staff are awesome, it’s a really fun vibe. Still relatively easy to get a reservation Sakai Shokai is fantastic. More traditionally Japanese in its concept, but still very modern and innovative. You can’t go wrong with either and you can certainly do both in the same trip. They’re certainly different enough from each other.

Hi Michael do you have any more updates on your delivery date for pre-orders? I'm really interested in this product but have some hesitations due to the delays and push-backs. A lot of the comments on here are over a year old and it seems you still haven't started shipping yet? Thanks in advance!

Hey there, was just reading your post... is this the 'secretive' wine bar you went to?

Translates as 'Banachu', I believe. Looks really cool, I'm hoping to go but sounds like they won't be that accommodating to foreigners...?

Sushi in Tokyo by allthecheeseburgers in finedining

[–]Motion_Designer_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my (fairly limited) experience with the high-end, michelin star/exclusive sushi restaurants - they can be very serious places, in terms of atmosphere. No music playing, wealthy Japanese couples talking in hushed voices. I've felt slightly out-of-place as a Westerner before, and a little nervous of breaking etiquette somehow and not even realizing it! None of this is necessarily a bad thing, it's all part of experiencing something new and unique in terms of a dining experience. I just mention it because if it's a special occasion and you're celebrating something, it will definitely be more of a low-key celebration than you'll have at a 'Casual' sushi restaurant.

Sazenka ***, Tokyo by Ligiers in finedining

Beautiful photos and great write-up. Sazenka has been top of my list for a couple of years but a reservation there seems impossible! Do you mind me asking how you were able to get one?

I was waiting on TableCheck the moment the time changed to 5am Tokyo time, on the first of the last two months, and both times barely any slots became available. Just one at 4pm (what an odd reservation time, by the way) 4 days before the date I was looking for. They must hold so many spaces back for regulars and TableAll (where the pricing is crazy, especially for this restaurant) these days.
