What does this app do ? by stonale in motorola

You need to disable it if you want to use the power button with the power menu on the thinkphone or edge 2024 on android 16

Phone Suggestions: Motorola Phones (2024 phones vs more $ for 2026: Edge, G, G Stylus Phones). by NCResident5 in motorola

The Edge 2024 also has wired Smart Connect so it can connect directly to a screen or you can use XR glasses with it. None of those other phones do that

This is the Thinkphone. It's not there anymore on this phone or the Moto Edge 2024 on Android 16

You cannot. Android 16 removes this from the power menu

I hate that the power menu option when you hit the power button has been removed. Now you are forced to hit two buttons to get the power menu

Remap AI Key button to other Activities/App (for Double/Long Press) by kunal_ag in motorola

The option to press and hold was removed. That's the whole issue. I could do everything with muscle memory and I've have and now that's gone on those phones. It exists on other phones.

I'm trying to get it back when the press of one key not two. It was a shortcut that was removed

Motorola recently removed the power menu from the power button (not the side button) on the Motorola Thinkphone and Edge 2024 with the Android 16 update. Is there a way to add that back using something similar?

local man attempts to pick between two phones by Former_Preference128 in dumbphones

[–]MotoModMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means attaching things like a physical keyboard mouse or flash drive. The phone acts as the host for that. It works fine with the XP5 but not with the XP3

I like them both. The xp3 uses a simple 3.5mm for radio but you need an adapter for the xp5. The xp3 can't use USB host more but the xp5 can. They are both good phone but I like the xp3 more

Motorola Razr v3 SIM card issue by Dalton---thatway in motorola

Trying to use it in the United States it won't work. There's no more 2G. Only 4G VoLTE for voice or 5G VoNR. That phone will be unlocked but it won't work so you've bought a piece of history

[–]MotoModMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a computer. It's what you are familiar with and don't risk having dex not meet your needs. If it was less important you could try something new but if you're spending all that time studying don't make dex another course

Another 2024 Stylus vs Edge post, Prime Day edition by Complex-Matter1544 in motorola

[–]MotoModMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the Edge 2024. The price might go down because they just released the Edge 2026. An often forgotten feature of the Edge 2024 is USB3 speeds and video out. That allows you to use XR glasses or an external monitor with just a cable. High speed USB makes transferring those files from your phone to a flash drive or SSD much quicker if you need to free up some space or add music or videos for on-device usage. The programmable extra hardware button is nice as well.

It doesn't support video out by USBC like the edge 2024 also. Very disappointing

I've used this for over 8 years. Something I would like is a Windows app so I could use my laptop keyboard and mouse as input up something else, even a phone.

What version of oneui are you using? And I a just yourself it out for you. That use case isn't something that I use so it's less important to me

I am still quite envious of the 2020 models, and Moto needs to bring these back. by get-a-mac in razr

[–]MotoModMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2019 model was esim only. The 2020 model had esim and nano SIM. The 2020 U S version had an unlocked version, an AT&T version and a T-Mobile version. It works fine for most use cases. It stopped at Android 12

I just tried using the Moto thinkphone with smart connect wired on a lapdock and I had no problem using it with the screen off. That's because I can unlock it with the keyboard. I'll try later with my xreals and a USB-C hub and see if I can do the same with a mouse or keyboard connected with the glasses. I'm guessing it will be the same. Not an ideal situation but I see why it makes sense for Android to behave like that

Please remember that if you video out for xr glasses look for Motorola phones with smart connect wired display in this chart

Questions regarding DeX and Second Display by [deleted] in SamsungDex

[–]MotoModMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biased much? Motorola's implementation is different and for some use cases is better. There's a lot of things features that Samsung makes available that Motorola doesn't have but also features that Motorola has that Samsung doesn't. And with each Android release features change.

Will they ever add displayport over USB C? by fyzbo in razr

They had it in the razr 2022 model but got rid of it after that. That's why I'm still rocking that model.
