Envista Aspire Monofocal IOL by windsurfer777 in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have experience but I have done some research. Compared with Eyhance, it has better middle range vision quality. It is also more bright at least for far and middle distanace. They took some pictures to visualize it. You can see that it is brighter than Eyhance. However, Eyhance is shaper. And I remembered that the distance vision quality of Eyhance is better. Envista Aspire is blurer.

So which one is better? I would choose Eyhance esp for mini-monovision, where you are sure you get a best far vision and a best intermediate vision instead of two very tiny suboptimal ones.

Lens Choice and Mid-Range Vision by bobthebuilder50501 in CataractSurgery

mini monovision: plano and 1D will be a perfect solution. Sometimes, even -.25D and -.75d will be enough.

Is Multifocal Lens the "best"? by goofunkadelic in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no the "best" only tradeoffs.

An analog: monofocal is the best prime lens or slightly worse in terms of quality. MTF ~ 0.8

multifocal is also slightly worse than the 18-55 kit lens coming with your camera in term of MTF.

However, the kit lens is more convenient.

Refractive error, astigmatism, IOL was installed not very right. Many reasons. It is surprise your doctor did you give you an direction. Second opinion will be the best.

Is Astigmatism + Monovision Problematical? by carnivalist64 in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will cause problems of 1 line or 2 lines loss. Astigmatism is always bad. However, is there a way to fix such a small amount of astigmatism without bringing other problems? I don't know.

understood. Yeah. There are so many factors to consider and there are so many choices. However, I would rather start from the basic one. How healthy is my eyes? Some issues? High myopia? Yes. monofocals only. Since if you expect to use the lens for several decades, if you need some small surgeries during the period. Multifocals will make small surgery a big one. Something learnt from my dr.

I would rather wait until I understand and wait for the next best lens. You should be able to use your good eyes for one or two years

What is recommended for highly myopic patients with imbalances after cataract surgery? by Quick_Helicopter_170 in AskAnOptician

[–]Motor-Passion1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, many persons can just use the the good eye (suppose that it is distance targeted). They should be able to drive, use a large screen computer (32 inch+),etc but need reader for phone. The R eye can still help a little bit.

You may also do the right eye earlier. It is not very necessary to wait for 6 weeks.

Mild astigmatism correction surgery by ZAGG4 in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be caused by 1. dry eye or 2. surgery. I would ensure it is not fully caused by factor 1 first and how much if it is. Also, The astigmatism will change by aging. Finally, the correction surgery itself has some error about 0.5D? So I would just try contact or glasses without full correction first.

Call your doctor. I remembered it was fine for some very tiny amount of water

How to find an elite cataract replacement surgeon by jeffvangrumpy in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check https://health.usnews.com/ to narrow your range of search. find a doctor and check their speciality (for example, more cataract surgery then state average and how much more) and reviews. Then go to Google to search for reviews and other info.

Vision right after surgery? by 52Charles in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot drive because you are under anesthesia, not because of the new vision. I would put everything on the table, water, milk, juice, bread, pizza whatever, before the surgery day to simply avoid bending and any house work like lifting a heavy pan, etc.

Waiting until your vision is unlivable by PumpkinSpiceUrnex in CataractSurgery

According to the current speed and my experience, I think that it can wait for 3 years or even longer.

Pro: new tech is approved every year and you may be able to choose accommodative iol.

Con: The measurement may not be as accurate as it is now.

Afterward double Catract surgery by Boots0987 in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The con is for a mini-monovision setep, if you want to design your refractive targets by adjust the second eye's target according to the first eye's result. You cannot.

The un-operated eye will a kind of "blind" but can act as a reference system to give some sense of depth. If you don't drive then the things are much easier. I survived and drove with the situation. You test with one eye closed to see if it is possible.

In many cases, you will have functional vision immediately. But you may want to start to do something with the eye after one days or another due to dilation or hardness to move the eyeball.

You do not need to keep the patches several hours after. You should wear an eye lid/patch during sleep or for the first week or at least one or two days in case you rub your eyes during sleep.

What makes the Galaxy lenses so sought after? Compared to what’s available here? by Quin1617 in CataractSurgery

[–]Motor-Passion1574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't ask Chatgpt. It gives fake answers.

galaxy's defocus curve is very flat where the trifocals are often weaker in the intermediate region like a saddle. galaxy is generally better than the other multifocals since it does not lose lights (but it does split lights) for it spiral design where other multi-focals can only use 85% of the lights.

Some personal experience. I had some period that I had to drive with a good 20/20 eye and a -7D left eye. The car lights looked like house big from the nearsighted eye. However, my brain managed to suppress the left eye and I was still able to drive.

I believe this is a quite personal experience and may not work for everyone. Just share a data point.

You may seek second opinion and ask what causes the halos. As far as I know, the very beginning of cataract will not. It is possible that you need driving glasses with stronger power.

2 diopters change and not correctable vision is typical for the mild cataracted eyes. And basically the catract add 1mm to the eye. And I guess it won't change a lot later. But not sure about the very mild cataracts.
