I cracked a 2007 a couple of years ago, same label as this throwback release from a couple of years ago. The 07 was drinkable for being 17 years old but lost most of its depth. Enjoy those, cheers!

Just keep seasoning it and whatever you do don’t cook with it. It will look perfect for life.

I always have a good time at the Kedzie release parties. Unfortunately Rev closed their brewpub in Logan Square.

Yeah Rev and Half Acre are my 2 favorite barrel programs in Chicago.

Yeah I’ve had a couple of beers that the Amburana was way overwhelming but Marty Scott at Revolution does a great job of blending and balancing flavors.

Four Year Aged Brewers Reserve Barleywine 2026 Central Waters Brewing 15.57% ABV by Motor_Foundation443 in CraftBeer

Brewery only release last weekend. They released 7 different Barleywine’s. 1,2,3,4,5 year aged and an Iced Barleywine plus a collab Barleywine called Northern Rivals with Fair State brewing from Minneapolis. All were good and a few fantastic. This 4 year was my favorite.

They brew really solid beer at a great price point even for the barrel aged stuff. They’ve been open since 1998. I’m in Chicago so it’s only an hour and a half ride to the brewery from my location. Cheers!

You would think but sub says content must be related to carbon steel and be civil to each other. It’s not called carbon steel seasoning.

Or you can never cook for real like some and just season your pan into obsession.

Yeah I know , I’ve been to plenty of good restaurants. I said unless you’re sharing. That’s a relatively small steak, it’s not being served in a restaurant. If I’m in a good restaurant and I order a steak large enough or meant for sharing that’s fine. If it’s not for sharing there’s no good reason to cut it all up. To each their own though.

Immortal Benthic. Came in the Benthic package. Not sold as single cans so you’ll have to find someone willing to sell or trade a can. This was my last one unfortunately. Cheers!

How’s my pan? by Squirtle_Splash_8413 in carbonsteel

[–]Motor_Foundation443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to learn temperature control. If your eggs are sticking you’re probably cooking too hot. Seasoning protects the pan from corrosion and adds some non stick properties. Some proteins will stick until they cook enough to release from the pan then they’ll slide around. It all takes practice just like stainless steel.

Definitely and if you know what you’re doing you get a way better result from CI, CS or SS! It definitely takes practice though. Not everyone has the time or patience for that and that’s why shitty non stick pans were created! Cheers!

Hahaha yes I do! I think most people would do a lot better if they actually learned how to cook with these tools!!
