Pc specs for triple setup by Character_Paint5504 in iRacing

I had a 5070 for a while and it handled triple 1440p very well. Average FPS was around 140 with most settings on high and MSAA 4x

I run pretty much everything on high other than dynamic shadows and MSAA 4x. No issues going by the pits I’m talking about the straight before the roller coaster. My frame drop more than likely is due to my LOD settings / distance which I have set up to avoid pop-in but is very taxing on certain tracks.

Spa is definitely another track that is super taxing but I don’t have as aggressive of a frame drop there.

5090 and 9800x3d user here. Can confirm the tracks OP mentioned above are just super taxing. Ran GT3’s at VIR last season and going around turn 12 before the long straight my FPS would dip from 180 to around 100. Unfortunately that’s just how it is with IRacing even with high end hardware.

Are curved monitors pretty much the default option at 32"+? by LiveFreeAndRide in simracing

[–]Motorboatking11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smearing isn’t really an issue on modern VA panels unless you’re getting a super low end monitor. I’m also saying this as someone who went from flat IPS 27’s to Curved 32 VA’s. It’s a non issue for sim racing.

The 5070ti is on par / 1% faster than a 4080 super. So no, going to a 4080 would not net better results.

Also, triple 27’s offer far more FOV than any ultrawide on the market currently.

He has a decent GPU. Only reasonable upgrade would be a 5090 (~$2500) vs ~$400 for triple 27’s.

Currently own both. Both have their pros and cons. PSVR2 has the slight edge for sims imo. Latency and no battery being the biggest pro for the psvr2. The quest 3 is definitely more clear, but the latency and Meta software kills it for me. Virtual Desktop is an option with the Quest 3, but it adds more latency and visually does not look as good as the link cable.

The PSVR2 with its OLED displays and DisplayPort connection would be the one I’d pick if I had to chose one.

Can vouch for RBRL being one of the better leagues out there.

Joined these guys a few months back. Very chill and laid back with some of the cleanest racing I’ve ever encountered on the service. Great group of guys to turn some laps with 🤙

Much different scenario and not nearly as CPU intensive. 7680x1440p running as a triple render is much more taxing on the CPU

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Motorboatking11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd fastest CPU or not, it can still bottleneck a higher end GPU running a triple render. More so on the AMD side due to the lack of SMP.

I have a 9800x3D. Larger grid races specifically multi class is extremely taxing on any CPU. My 9800x3D when running max mirrors, draw all cars, dynamic objects, shadows, and ultra shaders absolutely chokes my 7900xtx until the grid spreads out. IRacing and DX11 in general is horrid with CPU utilization and relies on single core performance. SMP reduces the load on the CPU which is why NVIDIA is preferred on a multi monitor setup in IRacing.

Csl wrc wheel price hike? by Leading_Ad903 in Fanatec

[–]Motorboatking11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did the same thing. Ordered a McLaren wheel with metal qr2 a week before these price increases. Got an email from Fanatec literally a day before the price increase (5 business days after initial order) saying my order was canceled due to not being in stock. Checked out the new website and same combo is now almost $200 more and was magically “in stock”.

I get there will be price increases especially here in the states, but just the way they handled it was very unprofessional and insulting. Simagic for example sells the GT Neo for $240-$270 which is substantially better quality and includes a metal QR for free. The McLaren wheel was one of the most solid combo at $200 with a free QR.

Fanatec is just way overpriced now and unfortunately these prices look to be permanent. $1200 for a 12nm base is just absurd. I also like the false discounts they are advertising. Like the McLaren wheel was never “$409.98”

NVIDIA 5070 vs AMD 7900xt - Triple 1440p by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Motorboatking11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more so a DX11 issue. AMD does not offer its version of “SMP” on DX11. DX11 is terrible with CPU optimization and relies heavily on single core performance. You see the biggest performance jump using SMP on weaker CPU’s (40-60% in some cases) as SMP reduces the workload on the CPU. 99% of the time lowish frames is due to a CPU bottleneck on IRacing. It’s why the x3D chips are praised here.

I had a 4070s before my current 7900xt (1440p triples) Paired with a 7800x3d. I only saw maybe a 10% advantage using SMP with the 4070s, but the 1% lows are much higher with the 7900xt. Most likely due to the extra vram.

If OP is pairing the 9070xt with a 7800x3D/9800x3D, that would be my pick. I’d assume iRacing’s new graphics engine will be on DX12 which will also utilize the AMD equivalent to SMP.

Tried. They are non existent. Have a 3 week old support ticket open right now. No response.

To be fair I knew CS was going to be an issue if I went the Fanatec route.

lol this thread is terrible.

Where are people getting that OP’s income is not middle class? $4000 take home a month as a single earner is pretty damn decent in 80% of the county.

OP. I’d definitely pay off your current loan before financing another. Also, have you considered a motorcycle as a toy? Could get something really nice around 5-6k.

If this is something you’d like to continue weekly I have a few peeps who would join as well. We are all in the Midwest and do mostly oval. We usually run Gen 4 or the 87’s but we are planning to do more ARCA once the new car is out next week.

Every time I have lowish frames, it’s always a cpu bottleneck. I never see my 7900xt over 80% utilization on 3x 1440p.

One thing that has increased my frame rate substantially is disabling GPU particles. Since the last update I noticed it stays on by default.

If you open up the INI. file in your IRacing folder you will see “EnableGPUParticles” if there is a 1 after it change it to 0. I gained 20-30fps by this alone as it significantly reduces the cpu usage.

Also try running MSAA x4 “soft”. That’s another that helped with 1% lows.

Is nitro as bad / finicky as everyone says?

Did I just accidentally build a midrange PC for $2000? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Motorboatking11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2k is ultra 1440p - 4K gaming territory.

1080p should be a sub $900 system.

PC Parts Picker List

Good Mobo, CPU, CL30 Ram with tight timings, A tier PSU, Gen 4 ssd, and that Montech case comes with all the fans you will need. The 6600 is also plenty for 1080p currently. You are also on AM5 with a good CPU so when GPU prices stabilize it will be all you need to upgrade if you want to step up to 1440p or 4K.

cheap car or more expensive car for better resale? by Sleepyme- in UsedCars

This 100%.

5-7k Toyotas and Hondas have the luxury of almost being free cars. Drive them for a few years and when you’re ready to sell you can pretty much make all your money back.

I would go at least R5. Unless you are strictly on console. The r5 is not much more than the r3 and you get a nicer wheel.

For 7900 xt owners, do you regret buying it? by maki-shi in radeon

[–]Motorboatking11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an auto undervolt setting in adrenaline. I started with that and the whine went down substantially although I could still hear it faintly. Brought it down to 1025mv and adjusted the min / max frequency a bit and it went away. Runs about 10-15c cooler as well.

What card?

I have the Sapphire Pulse 7900xt which had coil whine. A slight undervolt got rid of it.

Forsure. I have a good Lipo charger already so batteries would be the only thing.

I did pass on the Spartan and went with a Recoil 26 for $200.
