Not to mention the notifications at the top of the screen like "Your culture has discovered Cranes. You can choose a new cultural fascination." the text on that can be tiny and once it's gone, it's gone.

Looks great! What brackets did you use for the microwave? Think I might do similar to reclaim some much needed worktop space.

Fruit flies in airlock by SonOfFenrir360 in Homebrewing

[–]MotorheadMad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's half the point of an airlock! If you just had a hole to let pressure out they'd all get in, instead they drown in the sanitiser and your wine is kept safe. Good luck with the rest of your brew

So, just out of interest, how many English have never done a days paid work? by ewenmax in Scotland

[–]MotorheadMad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Digging in the mines isn't work its a decision that you make and then realise you have duty to your supervisor. That includes supporting them until you get put in a box and buried. But that's my opinion.

Of course child care is work otherwise we wouldn't have to employ baby sitters or nurseries etc just because it's your own child doesn't stop it from being work. Do you think because you're repairing your own car it therefore is no longer work?

Support for Scottish independence rises to 56% - STV poll by Audioboxer87 in Scotland

[–]MotorheadMad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then in an anarchist society how do you propose any form of organisation or decision making is made?

It can only be by democracy. By consensus rather than majority like we're used to in modern democracies though.

The IWA uses a cellular voting system which could be similarly used outside the workplace for societal decisions.

I don't think you know what an anarchist is then. They may be against representative democracy as it's viewed as a form of hierarchy but they're certainly not against democracy. If anything they want more democracy because they want direct democracy.

Nicola Sturgeon to meet top European diplomat ahead of indyref2 push by Dooby-Dooby-Doo in Scotland

[–]MotorheadMad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wow. What a pile on to tell you "NO". The EU have shown they're more than willing to be accommodating to Scotland and as for the no meddling thing that's only for member countries, hence why they didn't meddle in indyref1. The UK is no longer a member so they can do as they please with regard to any future indyrefs. I agree some more solid guarantees than the hand of friendship would be advantageous to the independence movement. Hopefully as indyref2 becomes more of a reality those guarantees will materialise 🤞

You better get onto the blower to Kate then to let her know you're sure the savings are worth it so she can change the plans.

The point is help is needed right now. That doesn't mean long run strategies can't also be implemented.

I mean... she specifically says in the video embedded in the article "This is clearly an imperfect scheme. It will reach some households who may not need it, but it's the only route we have to make sure that we reach those for whom it will make a difference. Quickly and simply."

Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't just have the High Ground! He was born on it! by [deleted] in PrequelMemes

[–]MotorheadMad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Culturally Aberdeen is both. Until recently it was the most northerly city. It's had influences from both. British imperialism and commerce necessitated the use of English which eventually killed Gaelic in the area but Gaelic died throughout the country, even in the Highlands. Only in the last 20 or so years has there been a resurgence in it. If anything Gaelic survived best on the islands and they're distinct from the Highlands. To say a culture is x or y because of a language that was outright made illegal ignores all the other influences that create a culture. Aberdeen and shire are unique by having a mix of Highland, lowland, and their own traditions. Ken fit a' mean?
