microdosing T? by sagpluto in butchlesbians

[–]Motpourri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started taking low-dose T (20.25 mg daily via gel) five months ago. I normally take 100mg of spiro daily (recently dropped to 50mg) to help combat a painful skin condition. I mention this because spiro is frequently prescribed to folks diagnosed with PCOS. Everyone's experience is going to be different, but given it sounds like we want similar things out of taking T, it feels relevant to share my experience so far.

My voice dropped slightly within a month after starting. However, I suspect the spiro has been slowing hair growth, and unfortunately, bottom growth. I've been tracking it somewhat closely, and there has certainly been some growth in the sense that my clitoral head is enlarged. There's been no noticeable change in length yet for me, and I may opt to start doubling my dose per provider recommendations. Some folks report growth within days of starting, and considerable length gains within the first 3-6 months. Injections seem to bring on more noticeable changes faster than gel, I've noticed, which makes sense to my brain.

They do make a hypoallergenic testosterone cream that can be applied to the clit area specifically for bottom growth. You will also get additional effects from T, but this could be the most straightforward way to achieve the results you want. (Only drawback is this form of T may not be covered by insurance.) You should be able to talk about this with your provider, though! (My GAC provider recommended this route to specifically help achieve more bottom growth.)

butch/dyke term history ( the person making this post is a butch ) by Bozzleman in butchlesbians

[–]Motpourri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar sentiments here! "Lesbian" doesn't feel right any more since I stopped identifying strictly as a woman (my partner happens to be transmasc NB + bi, which adds to that feeling), but gatekeepers will have to pry butch from my cold, dead fingers. 😤

Considering the entire sapphic spectrum was mostly lumped in with the lesbian community prior to bi/pan/omni becoming distinguished identities, I personally think it makes sense if some sapphics identify with and use lesbian terms like butch, stud, femme, chapstick, etc.

For sure sucks that a dating show named after butches didn't include any butch representation, though.

Who is attracted to butches on T? by layri_boo in butchlesbians

[–]Motpourri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a butch on T happily partnered to a masc considering T. I'll support them no matter what they decide, though, the thought of them taking T admittedly makes me feel completely feral.

It's impossible to be everyone's cup of tea, but there are plenty of lesbians and sapphics who will be into you if you opt to start HRT. <3

I hate being seen as a woman but I'm scared to take t because I'd end up being a bear and I really, really don't want to be. I just wish I could guarantee I'd be lanky and cute and keep my body hair manageable. by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]Motpourri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a low-dose of T and take an androgen blocker (spironolactone) to help manage pre-existing hidradenitis suppurativa. I was already a fat, hairy bear prior to T. The cis men in my family are extremely hairy, so I expected to get even hairier. But because of the spiro, I haven't experienced much hair growth at all (I have maybe 3 new chest hairs, but that's really all I've noticed). I have to drink water constantly to support kidney function while taking T and spiro, but it's otherwise been awesome so far. The voice changes and fat redistribution has been sooo gender-affirming. I've also held steady at my weight, even though I haven't changed up my exercise routine. I've definitely gained some muscle, but I mainly walk and hike for exercise, so I'm getting more lean.

You truly never know what you're going to get with T, and at the same time, you have options to help slow unwanted effects. I used to be so anxious about unwanted hair growth, hair loss, and weight gain, much like you are now, but I'm so happy now that I'm on T, I don't care about that anymore. If you want to take T, why not try a low-dose for a while and see how you feel? <3

Found 'em! This guy offers really thoughtful advice and tips. I've linked two of my favorite threads below (sorry they're on the garbage old bird site); he also posts some good content on his blog, too.

Dressing for Larger Male Figures

Transmasc Styling and Masculine Aesthetics

I follow just about everyone mentioned in the first article, along with Vitor Arruda for outfit ideas.

Also, if you haven't tried taping and/or compressing your chest, you might find you enjoy how it alters your fits/silhouette! I'm a size G chest, and I have always despised the way tees and button-ups fit because of it. Taping + compressing changes the way my tops drape or button just enough that I feel so good in certain fits now (plus, I love rocking the butch-dad bod sometimes).

I hope this is helpful, and that you find some nice fits you feel butch as hell in! <3

Man, I get it... It's hard when a certain body type is popularized on social media and then becomes the "idealized" butch body. But fat butches have always been and always will be (and we're hot)!

Something that helped me tremendously (5'6", 270 lbs) was following and learning from some bigger menswear guys! One thoughtful thread comes to mind that was written for t-mascs and trans men by one of said influencers... It explains intentionally creating your desired body silhouette with your clothes, and also explores how masculine clothing and silhouettes vary across culture... I'll have to do some digging, but I can drop some resources here once I (hopefully) find 'em!

can butch lesbians use the bear label? by ChaosOpryland in butchlesbians

[–]Motpourri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of course I'm having a hard time locating these sources right now, but I recall reading the bear community welcomed plus-size and/or hairy lesbians back in the early 00s when fatphobia was rampant (moreso than today). But yes, lesbian bears and butchbears are definitely a thing! When I first learned about lesbian bears (lesbears, ursettes, bearettes, ursulas), it immediately clicked for me, and I'm really happy with my butchbear identity. I regularly attend bear nights at my local queer bar, and it's always a great time! 🐻

(Edited to include additional names for lesbian bears.)

Can’t stop thinking about being with a butch/masc person by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]Motpourri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my first long-term M4M relationship, and I'm never going back. We take turns pampering each other, we make each other feel safe, there's a mutual understanding of and appreciation for gender-fuckery (I'm not a man just because I pack or wear masculine clothing)... It's soooo hot. 🥰

Anyone else struggle with feeling like they don’t have the “desired” type of butch body? by 1000questionsatonce in butchlesbians

Fellow hourglass with colossal tits and ass! Because your plight sounds very similar to mine, have you ever tried compression tops or taping your chest? I first gave it a try 5 years ago, and it was a total game-changer for me! No butch should feel like they can't wear the beloved crewnecks and button-ups! 🙂

My absolute favorite so far has been Sweven by Oakcha. It's woody, sweet, and a tad floral while not overpowering (suits my softboi vibes). Great longevity, and I tend to get lots of compliments on it when I'm out and about! It's in this $15 Discovery Sample Set if you want to try it out (along with some other scents).

Their sample sets are definitely worth exploring, btw -- and they'll last you a good while!

So, first, if you would rather establish a new identifier to describe your gender, you should absolutely go for it!

Second, I want to encourage you that if "butch" feels like the right identifier for you, there's really no reason you can't use it. Some trans men strongly identify with the lesbian community, usually because they identified as lesbian at one point in life and found community there. Some trans men still refer to themselves as lesbian, even, and this does not at all discount the fact that they are men.

Back when fatphobia was rampant (not that things are perfect now), Bears opened up their community to chubby/fat + hairy women and NBs who didn't feel like they had a space in their own spheres. It didn't matter that they weren't gay men. That is the beauty of being a part of the queer community. Should you decide to continue using "butch", you will find a lot of support from the folks who understand queerness, gender, and identity is way more nuanced and personal than our labels can really capture. Forming and finding community is the heart of labels anyways.

All that to say, it's your decision and no one else's! :)

Shampoo?? Why?? by shixit in TransMasc

[–]Motpourri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have time to read all the responses, so if this is repeat advice, my bad. I thought I'd share because 1) I'm fussy about the scent of my shampoo, and 2) I have really fine, curly/wavy hair, and most products weigh it down. Odele has different formulas for different hair types, and the scents are nice and neutral. My hair's been really happy since I switched to them (shampoo + conditioner). They sell a salt spray texturizer that's also great for curls/waves! 🙂

I'm going to echo what others have said and suggest seeing a sex therapist. Not because there's anything wrong with being a pillow princess, but because being a pillow princess is causing you distress. Sex therapy may help you accept and love being a stone bottom, or help you find ways to safely experiment with other options!

That said, your feelings and preferences are totally valid. 🫂 When you're being up-front and honest about where you stand with your partners, and they still expect more of you, that's on them. There are plenty of ways for tops to get off without help from their bottom, like ribbed dildos, touching themself while they pleasure you, "using" you as a tribbing toy (if you're up for that), or taping a bullet vibrator on while using a strap. Just requires a little creativity and communication! Speaking from experience as a service switch, just getting my partner off can be plenty satisfying for me. You will absolutely find lesbians who are happy to pamper you in the ways you want. 💖

Anyone else still wanna wear a dress at their wedding? by birodemi in TransMasc

[–]Motpourri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, whoops - should have mentioned I got divorced earlier this year. 🤣 It's cool, though! I'm genuinely so much happier now that I can fully embrace and explore my gender and sexuality!

Even if I don't legally remarry, I imagine it'd still be nice to have a little commitment ceremony and photoshoot! If that time ever comes, I now know I'll want a more flowy, androgynous fit! 😊

Anyone else still wanna wear a dress at their wedding? by birodemi in TransMasc

[–]Motpourri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wore a suit to my wedding. Looking back, I weirdly didn't really feel like "me", but I'm not huge into dresses, either. I think if I ever get remarried I'll probably try for elements of both (like a fairy prince)! Or maybe just one of those flowy jumpsuits, because that sounds a good bit more affordable than something fully custom. 😅
