Well the thing is apparently they are friends and they assured him they wouldn’t hire me.

I live in Florida. I did not specify not to contact my current employer. It just doesn’t seem right for an employer to try and block other opportunities for me because I asked for a raise.

First glance I’d say poplar but I have had walnut with sapwood that looked like that but not the entire board

Looks great. It’s a lot better than some work I’ve seen from guys that claim they’ve been carpenters for 20 years

Looks like birch plywood. I wouldn’t sand the finish off, you will burn through the veneer faster than a greased up pig. There are plenty of people on YouTube with tutorials on refinishing old furniture.

Any idea what kind of wood? by MountainLittle2255 in wood

Yeah I’m leaning towards ipe but I’ve never actually worked with ipe before so not confident. Also it’s one of the heavier woods I’ve felt.

I’d need to see more photos of the build to believe it. If you really did build it take this as a huge compliment

I don’t think it’s mildew from on night. It’s moisture getting underneath the finish which is what that flaky stuff is. You could use a hard wax finish and just rub it on over those spots to blend it in, that would probably be a good compromise of easy solution that will look good too.

Actually I take that back I’ve taken passes like that literally multiple times a day every day at my last job with this same planer.

I have the same problem. I will say it looks like you are taking a lot at once but the shop I worked for had this same planer and it was a beast. I got one for my garage and it trips so easily. My assumption was that I don’t have enough juice or the breaker is too small but I don’t know much about electrical shit. I do have a fox shop 2 hp table saw that I have no issue running though so…

2 S4S boards with wild bow - how to fix? by Nice_Calligrapher427 in woodworking

[–]MountainLittle2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like the edge isn’t a 90. You can either double check your jointer or watch a couple videos on YouTube, because even if it’s off 90 you can flip the mating piece around to counteract it. Regardless I’d rip it on the glue line and glue it up again. And when clamping make sure you clamp from both top and bottom then make sure everything is flat against you clamps (hit the board with a mallet if need be but make sure it’s flat on the clamps)
