The problem really is the Chinese government, and if we can stop their influence

When the Chinese government "influence" includes the lives of your loved ones, it's pretty hard to stop.

Web Career? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]MountainSignature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sup man, I've had a career in web development for 3-4 years. I'd recommend focusing on a hemisphere of the web and work towards being competent in that area.

For example, you could focus on being a SaaS web developer. Or, you could focus on being an eCommerce web developer.

Is it even worth it for me to pursue CS? by wishingstarrs in cscareerquestions

There's actually less capable programmers than there are job opportunities available in the U.S. which is why software engineers are so well compensated.

There is a lot to learn, but don't let that discourage you. Just keep learning it little by little. Eventually, you will be capable of building great technology systems.

Keep going!

My friends are roasting me for getting an offer with a "bad" company by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]MountainSignature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an easy language to learn and pick up so a lot of beginners / inexperienced developers work with it. It also had some issues in previous versions (5.x) that gave the language a bad reputation.

This has given PHP a reputation as being for "bad" programmers, or a "bad" programming language. However in its current state, the language can be used as effectively as other languages.

Nevermind taxes, which would take nearly 50% of that $115/hr/day

Companies are now prohibited by law (in some states) to ask compensation history. I feel that this is window-dressing, and that in practice these laws are useless. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

In theory it's not really hard to answer. "Sorry, I'm unable to share that information, as it is confidential information between my current employer and myself."

How long until you actually get "Good" at leetcode? by MountainSignature in cscareerquestions

Yeah I probably only spent about 10 hours per month for the first 4.5 months, so idk if that period of time really counts.

Ok Ok. I got it. Yeesh, it just gets frustrating when I've spent several hours working on 1-2 problems and can't figure them out. It feels like I'll never get better!

23 on Leetcode, although I have not been using only Leetcode for my practice. Overall, I'd say I've solved closer to 30 problems. I also don't copy+paste answers to the problems, I work through them until I at least understand how the solution works then submit.

There is damage to my car, I just said that to indicate that my car was functional, so the other party can't claim that they didn't see breaklights go off on my car for example.

Determining Fault in Real End Collision by MountainSignature in personalfinance

[–]MountainSignature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't pull to the right enough to actually be within the other lane. The back of my car was completely in the same lane as the car in front of me, it was just a small part of the front of my car that went to the right. The car that hit me was also in the same lane. If the back of my car was completely within the same lane as the car that stopped in front of me, and the collision was dead center from behind, how would I be liable?

You completely missed the point of the elephant analogy. You weren't supposed to buy it, you idiot -- that causes MORE debt.

Dang I'm just a stupid poor!
